Promise me, when I leave you
That you will find somebody new
Someone who can make you smile
The same way I failed to.
Promise me, when I'm not here
That you'll find someone to hold near
That when you hold them close at night
You'll think of me, my dear.
Promise me, when we're apart
That you'll find someone to heal your heart
And I'll rest assured, my dearest love
That you're ready to restart.
Promise me, when I'm away
That you won't cope in an improper way
That instead you'll hold your head high
And not see the world in shades of gray.
Promise me, when I take my leave
That you'll wear your heart on your sleeve
And let your loved ones dry your tears
So that you will not grieve.
Promise me, when you're asleep
You'll think of the promises you vowed to keep
Promise me that you'll be strong...
Even if you must weep.
