You groaned, moving around a little in Eric's lap as he was holding you just staring at the Christmas tree. His hair was still wet, cold drops falling down onto his nose.

~~~
After the doc was done Eric took a break for himself and took a shower, letting his brain go on for a while. He didn't really love focusing on what his brain was telling him, but he also couldn't stop it.
No matter how much he wanted to, his brain always found it's way back to the pain and "lies" that it was sure of was real. But some part of him found comfort in the pain he felt in his chest. Not that he enjoyed it but... if he didn't turn these thoughts and feelings into pain he'd just sit there confused.
He was used to pain and terribly afraid of any other feeling. Knowing that when he had a high moment he'd fall so far... It made feeling happy without immediate regret  seem impossible.
After he stepped out and put on some fresh clothes he could finally just take a breath as he stepped out of the bathroom. Now that the Doc was there he could focus on his presentation and-
,,Hey! You feeling any better?"
,,Y-Yes... j-just fine-"
,,Great! Hold onto them for a second will you? I also really need a shower."
,,U-Uh- ok... y-ye-"
,,Great!"
Before he knew it he was holding sleeping Y/N while the Doctor walked past him and closed the door, just leaving him there.
,,G-Great job Eric- T-Too dumb to say no-"
He sighed, looked down at you and found a reason to smile. You didn't notice changing from one to the other. You were just there, resting against him, sleeping peacefully.
When he made his way downstairs he grabbed onto the railing, being extremely careful. After what happened back there really took a toll on him. He did not trust himself anymore- at all. And he didn't even have trust in himself to begin with.
But he got to the sofa and rolled you up in some blankets, trying to lay you down on the couch. But as soon as you were away from him you started struggling and frowning and he couldn't bring himself to let go.
He closed his eyes for a moment and then looked back at you, your hair standing up a little, face completely calm with a tiny smile.
,,You look... just like a little mushroom..."
Shaking his head he looked around and found a remote. With a shrug he turned on whatever this remote was working for and then just stared as the Christmas tree started glowing.
It started from to bottom of the tree and the made its way up in a spiral. All the way to the top the until it reached the star, which had a pink moustache drawn on it...
,,Will..."
Then, a little groan followed by a yawn made him look down at you.
,,G-Good m-morning- W-Well... I-it's only 2 am... but..."
Realizing you weren't listening to him he followed your lead and looked at the tree.
,,B-Beautiful i-isn't it?"
When your head turned to him and your eyes showed nothing but pure amazement he felt alive for the first time in a while.
,,Are you less sad now?"
,,W-What?"
Eric froze, not ready to be hit by reality this quickly.
,,Doctor said you need to take
a break because your brain
is lying to you."
,,Oh... H-He said that?"
,,uh huh."
,,Well... Ye-es I am f-feeling better now... H-How about you? D-Did you s-sleep well?"
You sighed and looked down, playing with the blanket, your head resting against his chest.
,,What... What happened..?"
,,I-I saw papastache..."
,,Oh- Really? Ok and h..how did it..."
He didn't even finish the sentence noticing your eyes fill with tears and a small sniffle could be heard.
,,Aw...Y/N... it's ok."
Eric took in a deep breath and pulled you into an even bigger hug, pulling his legs up and resting his head on yours so you were completely hidden and safe in his arms.
,,Is everything alright?"
The Doc asked, the creaky sounds letting everyone know that he was still on the stairs.
,,J-Just a-a bad dream..."
,,I-I miss him."
,,I- I... k-know..."
