When Dr. Harris said she wanted to meet with my mother and me, I was more than a little scared. Why did they need to bring her over? Was I in trouble?
I went inside her office, and there sat my mother. She smiled and gave me a quick hug.
"I um... I'm not in trouble, am I?" I asked anxiously.
"Goodness, no!" Dr. Harris exclaimed with a chuckle.
"Well, why is my mother here, then?" I asked nervously, glancing in her direction.
"In the past four days, we have seen you make remarkable progress. You went from speaking gibberish to forming bonds with the other patients. I have seen a massive improvement in you; we are discharging you."
"You... you are?" I asked in disbelief.
"Yes, you can go home," she said with a genuine smile. I could tell she was proud of me.
"Yes!" I yelled excitedly.
"Before you go, would you like to say goodbye to the other patients?" Harris asked.
"Yes, I'll be back," I said as I ran out of the room.
