Gingerbrave was walking though the rain quickly. He needed to find shelter quickly so he wouldn't get soggy and crumble. A house ahead of him seemed welcoming enough. He knocked on the door.
Herb, who was close to the door at the time, answered the door quickly.

"Gingerbrave! What are you doing in the rain?" Herb asked him.

"Oh it's just, the house I was staying in broke." Gingerbrave responded like it was nothing.

"Come inside quick or you'll get soggy!" Herb said, as he let Gingerbrave in.

Herb's house was pretty big. Gingerbrave saw Sparkling walk in as he greeted Herb with a kiss.

"Why is Gingerbrave here, love?" Sparkling asked Herb quietly so Gingerbrave wouldn't hear.

"He was outside in the rain. I couldn't let him stay out there and crumble!" Herb responded, looking at Sparkling.

"Fair enough." Sparkling responded.

Just then, Gingerbrave walked to Herb.

"Do you know when this storm is going to end? I don't want to stay too long..." He said, looking down a little.

"Feel free to stay as long as you like!" Herb answered him.

"Thanks Dad-" Gingerbrave started but stopped quickly, covering his mouth.

"You're welcome!" Herb said, before speed-walking to Sparkling.

Sparkling, who was in the kitchen at the time, saw the whole event. He was intrigued by why Gingerbrave would call his husband, "dad", but, Gingerbrave was unaware that they were looking for a kid.

Why not jump on this chance?

"SparklingWhatDoIDoGingerbraveJustCalledMeDadAndI'mNotSureWeatherToAdoptHimOrScoffAtHimHelp" Herb said so quickly, it didn't register to him for a moment.

Sparkling thought about it for a good minute.

"Herb, I think we should adopt him. Now's a perfect chance, especially since there weren't too many kids at the adoption center." He answered.

"Are we sure? Maybe we can wait?"

"I think we should use this chance now."

"What if we aren't ready yet?"

"We've been preparing for months now!"

"Well, I just feel I'm going to fail.

Sparkling kissed Herb on the check and reassured him, "Trust me, we can do this."

"Who's going to tell him?" Herb asked.

"Well, I think it's best you do." Sparkling responded.

"Alright." Herb answered.

Herb walked to Gingerbrave. Gingerbrave smiled, slightly embarrassed. They stared at each other for a minute.

"Hey, I'm sorry for doing that earlier..." Gingerbrave said finally.

"It's ok Gingerbrave, we don't mind." Herb smiled.

"Huh?" Gingerbrave looked confused.

"We are going to adopt you!" Herb explained to Gingerbrave.

"Woah!! Really?? I've never had parents before!!" Gingerbrave said, excited.

"Well, now you will." Herb said, pulling Gingerbrave for a hug.

Maybe this was a dream-come-true, not a mistake.
