Late ahhhhh

~🛡Protection🛡~

It was a dark night.
A particularly bad storm had kept most cookies inside.

Madeleine, though, was outside.
He was keeping guard.

Recently, the holes in the sky were becoming worse.
More beasts from the skies were falling to Earthbread and attacking more cookies.

It was beginning to become dangerous to even dare go outside.

Madeleine was not scared of the beasts.
He was confident in himself to protect the cookies of earthbread from danger.

Tea Knight, Eclair, and Cream Puff were trying their hardest to do so.
Madeleine felt that he had to contribute.

On this particular night, though, this would be a horrible idea.

Thunder sounded from the sky.
The rain was cold.

Madeleine stood on guard outside of the Great Hall.
The thunder was loud, but otherwise, it was quiet.

Madeleine didn't mind the rain.
It was rather soothing to him.

Madeleine heard something around the bushes, suddenly.
He chose to step out into the rain to investigate.

The sound came from the side of the Great Hall, close to a window.
Madeleine noticed a small cake hound.

Madeleine smiled to himself.
It's just a little cake hound. Nothing to worry about.

The little cake hound barked at him.
Madeleine patted it a little.

"Shoo now, please," Madeleine said.

The cake hound scampered off.

Good.
Madeleine thought.

Madeleine turned around to walk back to the entrance.
He saw something approaching the entrance.

"Stop right there!" Madeleine yelled.

Madeleine ran to the thing that was walking to the entrance.

It was one of the beasts from the sky.

The beast was twice Madeleine's height, and was holding a very sharp pitchfork.

It growled at Madeleine when it saw him.

"I will not allow you to pass!" Madeleine said proudly.

The beast slashed at him.
Madeleine parried with his sword.

He attempted to sweep the legs of the beast but it was too strong for him to do so.

Madeleine fell face first into the ground.
The beast made an attack.

It managed to make a crack on his armor.

Madeleine jumped to his feet.
He slashed at it with his sword.

The beast was hit.
It staggered back.

The sky flashed a shade of light cyan and blue.
Another beast showed up.

Madeleine showed no fear.
He made a slash at the first beast which pushed it down to the ground.

Madeleine jumped on the first one's bleeding stomach to try and ambush the second one.

The second one swatted him out of the air.
Madeleine fell on his feet.

Madeleine made a quick charge to it and slashed at it once more.

The rain was making the ground slippery.
Madeleine was wet from the rain.

The beast attacked him by charging at him.
Madeleine used his shield to defend himself.

Another flash.
Two others came forth.

It was a three vs. one battle.
Madeleine hoped no more of them would show up.

He defeated the second one by stabbing through its chest with his sword.
Madeleine dumped its body on top of the first one.

The two beasts used that opportunity they had to slam him against the wall.
Madeleine was slammed against a window.

Someone shifted inside.

Madeleine weakly got up.
The beasts had managed to corner him.

Madeleine used his shield to push them back.
They fell back, but moved at him once more.

Another flash occurred.
Two more of the beasts came.

Madeleine felt outnumbered.
It was four beasts against him now.

One of the alive beasts hit him with its weapon.
It broke his armor almost instantly.

Madeleine struggled.
He tried to use his light magic against it, but he wasn't focused enough to make it work.

Madeleine tried to hold his armor together.

The other beast made a strike at him.
It snapped the armor away.

Madeleine's chestplate fell on the wet ground.
He backed away to the wall.

As he did that, he slipped and fell.

Madeleine saw the beasts approach him.
He saw a black flash and thought of the worst.

They cornered him to a wall.
One of them made a strike for him.

Madeleine shrieked...

...but the strike never hit him.

The beasts were suddenly pulled back into a vortex.
They shrieked.

Madeleine tried to see what was causing them to be pulled back.
He could have sworn he saw a coffee bean being spun around.

The wet ground made the beasts be pulled into the vortex faster.

Once they were pulled in, the vortex blew up with a black flash.
The beasts were defeated.

Espresso stood there.

"Ah! Espresso! Thank the divine you came!" Madeleine chirped.

Espresso looked unimpressed.

"I heard you slam into the window. That is why I came out," Espresso said.

Madeleine got up.
Espresso approached him.

"That was incredibly reckless of you. You knew there was a storm and you went out there anyway, and for what?! Why did you not ask anyone to come out with you?" Espresso snapped at him.

Madeleine looked at him.

"You could have gotten yourself severely injured, or worse, killed!" Espresso snapped at him.

"I wanted to protect everyone! I thought I could handle it," Madeleine said.

"Clearly, you couldn't. Those hellish beasts from the skies are becoming more dangerous by the day. You could have also ran into the Red Velvet dragon, or worse, Dark Enchantress herself, since she seems like she is behind this mess," Espresso scolded him.

"What? Are you so worried about me now?" Madeleine teased.

Espresso paused.
His face illuminated with blush.

"I think so," Madeleine teased.

"Getting on to a more serious matter, you should never do such a foolish thing again. That 'divine' won't save you always," Espresso said.

"Alright, alright. I won't do that again," Madeleine promised.

"You better not," Espresso said.

Espresso wiped his glasses off with his sleeve.

"Let's go inside already. I do not want to be soggy," Espresso said.

The two of them went inside.
