  Muyiwa's POV;

News about my injury spread like wildfire throughout the area. I haven't been able to leave my bed in the past three days, and I've been receiving guests upon guests.

My best friend, Dayo, isn't around as he traveled with his father to one of the neighboring villages some weeks ago, for business reasons.

Most of the guests I've been receiving are girls. Some of which I've never seen in my life.

It took just this unfortunate happening, for me to realize that some girls are like sugar ants, and would cover you once given the chance.

One came so close to me, she almost kissed me. If not for my mother stepping into the room at the perfect time.

The funny thing is, before then, I never knew the girl or set eyes on her.

But of all the guests I have been receiving, there's always just been one person I wished to see.

I'm always finding myself hoping that, somehow, she'd hear the news and come and check up on me. But that hasn't happened, and I understand why.

It is quite selfish to want her to come here after knowing the situation of things, but I can't help it.

My mother steps into my room, wearing a look I've grown to recognize over the past three days.

I have another guest.

“Dear, someone is here to see you. “She says, and I give a tight smile. However, the person who comes in, causes me to arch a brow.

It's one of the little children from the maid's quarters. I remember he told me his name is Ayodeji. I once sent him to call Ajinke for me, since I couldn't go into the maid's quarters.

“Hey… “I greet the little boy, and he shows me his teeth in a big smile.

“Good morning, uncle. “He replies, and I smile.

“What are you doing here? “I question, and the little boy walks over to my bed. He sits by my legs and gives me a serious look.

“Aunty Ajinke sent me to check up on you, and tell you something. “He replies, and my heart hops for joy on hearing this.

“She said that she prays to the goddess that you get better soon and that she would have loved to come and see you, but she can not.

She said she's sorry for what happened to you and hopes that the goddess looks upon you with mercy for a speedy recovery. “The boy adds, and I smile broadly at the realization.

Ajinke has been thinking of me too.

“Tell her I have gotten her message, and that I will get better very soon, so I can come and see her again. “I say to him, and he nods with another smile.

“Okay. “The boy replies, and he smiles.

“Bye-bye, “He says, and runs out of my room.

I shut my eyes as a giant smile splits my face. Dear Ajinke was also thinking of me.

“My dear son… “I suddenly hear a voice that makes me cringe, and I open my eyes in alarm.

I look towards the door and freeze when I see my father.

“I brought you some palm wine. So, we can drink like the old times. “He says, and I stare quizzically at him.

“Look… I know I made a very massive mistake. It wasn't my fault. I love you a lot, and I would never want to hurt you.

I just lost my temper and… It was the devil's work. “He says, and I crease my brows.

“The devil's work? How many times will the devil work through you? “I question in irritation, and he falls silent.

“It was the devil's work when you hit and hurt my mother? It is the devil's work when you fail to be a good person? It was the devil's work when you tried to kill your only son, and it was the devil's work when you tried to rape a girl who's young enough to be your daughter? “I question my father in irritation, and he cuts me off.

“That's enough, Muyiwa! I came here to make peace with my son, doesn't mean I'm ready to listen to anything about that unfortunate child!

I will have you know that I am not done with that girl. I haven't even started with her.

She made me an object of ridicule in a place where I was once honored. And she has to pay for that.

You see, I found out that she's nothing but an orphan! So, you better forget her.

Make peace with your father, and forget that girl because very soon, she will join her ancestors.

I am going to kill that girl. And I mean it! “My father says, and my heart drops at the evil in his words.

It's clear without a doubt that he means what he just said. This mad man wants to kill Ajinke!

And he will do it whenever he gets that chance. I can't let that happen!

Dear goddess, please do something! Please.

Once again, my dear readers, I'm so sorry for the late update.

It wasn't entirely my fault. It's a long story. But I hope you're enjoying your read
