You quickly changed into your uniform. You then stuck your head out the door and looked left and right down the halls.

When you confirmed the coast was clear, you tiptoed out with your backpack in hand.

You quietly slipped your shoes on, but that was when you felt a hand plop onto your shoulder.

You let out a little yelp and slowly turned your head to see who it was.

To your relief, it was Kyo. He had his toothbrush in his mouth with toothpaste frothing at the corners of his lips.

"Why are you up so early?" he asked.

You put your hand to your chest, catching your breath.

"Just keep quiet. I'm trying to avoid Yuki for now." You got up to go out the door.

Kyo looked like he wanted to tell you something. "Uh-"

You opened the door and there was Yuki waiting outside all ready.

He looked over at you with a cool expression and said, "Yo."

He handed you an onigiri wrapped in tin foil. "You didn't eat anything, right? Eat this on the way. Don't want to get hungry during class, right?"

You sighed as you accepted defeat. You took the onigiri and looked back at Kyo.

"We're going ahead. Enjoy your time with her while you can."

You walked off with Yuki, but you could imagine what kind of face Kyo was making clear as day.

As you two walked, you crinkled open the onigiri and took a bite.

"You really thought you could avoid me all day? We live in the same house for god sake."

You coughed on your food. He then handed you his water bottle and you took it and gulped it down.

You then handed it back. "Well what else was I supposed to do?"

"But you're the one who kissed me, so shouldn't I be the one avoiding you?"

You felt your cheeks getting warm. "Stop bringing that up. It's embarrassing."

Yuki's lips cracked into a crooked smile. "I'm just saying the truth."

You broke your onigiri into two pieces and offered one to him.

"You probably woke up way earlier than me and didn't get the chance to eat."

Yuki put his hands up to stop you. "No no. I'm alright. I didn't eat because I'm not hungry."

You weren't buying it, so you just put the onigiri half into his mouth. "Just eat. You're still a growing boy."

When school was over, Yuki turned to you and said, "I have student council duties to finish, so you don't have to wait for me today."

"Oh, I have somewhere to go today so don't worry," you said as you packed your bag.

"Where?"

You let out a half smile. "My mom's grave."

You took the bus to get to the gravesite.

You remembered the first time you were here. You didn't even shed a single tear. You just felt hollow on the inside. All the family members were consoling you with their sweet empty words.

But once you got to your aunt's house, you bawled your eyes out in the privacy of your room with no one to pat you on the back and tell you everything is going to be okay.

You walked over to your mom's grave, flowers in hand. They were lilies, your mom's favorite.

You set them down and lit the incense.

You just sat there staring at the grave, reading your mom's name carved into the stone over and over.

"Hi, mom. I'm doing well right now. I made lots of new friends at my school. Heck, there's even a boy I'm interested in. Too bad you're not here to meet them."

You laughed to yourself as you imagined what her reaction would be like. She would tease you and would pry for more information about this boy, saying she wants to know more about her "son-in-law."

Suddenly, you heard footsteps approach and stop right behind you. You turned around to see a familiar face.

It was your cousin, Hina. "Hey."

She had long, brown hair that flowed down her back and hazel colored eyes. She was looking down at you with a blank expression.

The fact that she was here wasn't what surprised you. It was the bouquet of flowers she was holding in her hand that caught you off guard.

She crouched down and set the flowers next to yours.

"What are you doing here?" you asked.

Hina sat down and without looking at you, she said, "I'm sorry."

You just sat there and listened to what she had to say.

"It's okay if you don't forgive me because I know I don't deserve it anyway, but I'm sorry for all the hardships I put you through during your stay at my house."

You didn't know what to say. Hina was the last person you would think would ever apologize to you, but here she was.

"It's okay. I forgive you." Hina looked at you with wide eyes. "Even though you bullied me from time to time, you weren't even my main source of grief. You know, we were both young and immature back then, so let's just put it all behind us."

Hina just stared at you. She wasn't smiling, but to you, she was. It showed within her eyes.

"Is this why you came here?"

Hina's face then turned serious. She looked troubled. "This and something else."

"What is it?"

She hesitated for a second, but she managed to speak. "Your father is dead."

Your eyes widened with shock. "W-what?"

"He was killed by the same person that killed your mom."
