POV: Mendax

The sand felt warm, and the air was salty. The Griffin island was about two blue whales away from Panthera Regina Island. The Flos Jungle was full of sound and smells. It was agreed upon to avoid going through the Flors Jungle and follow the coast. As no one wanted to go through the desert because of the risk of getting lost and sick from the heat. So, the group traveled between Flos Jungle and Exosso Desert until they saw the ocean, which they used as a guide.

The two reasons why Rex, Kadupul, and Mendax didn't want to enter the desert or the jungle were because it would be very difficult to survive either. At least, not without a guide. Since they had SUCH amazing luck in the savanna. So, they weren't hopeful that the tribes that inhabited the jungle would help the three strangers.

It would also be a good reminder that the proscriptus of the savanna and desert had warned that the outlaws of the jungle and desert were not to be trusted.

Mendax took a deep breath. His fur was starting to bother him as the humidity made his fur stick to his skin. Rex being a Bengal Tiger was built for this weather, or at least he should be. Kadupul didn't appear much bothered by the humidity, but he couldn't read her behavior as cleanly as he could Rex.

"So, this is what the ocean is like," Kadupul said with her nose in the air and ear facing forward.

Mendax looked at the fox's legs and noticed they had been getting dustier lately. He wondered if being blind that she didn't care about looking clean. Well, he didn't care for looks. In his tribe, looking dirty meant you had done something with your day, whether it was hunting, playing, or teaching.

"Don't you mean sea?" Mendax corrected the fox in a snarky tone.

"It's an ocean, not a sea," Kadupul growled in the direction of the white tiger but not directly looking at him.

*That is an interesting face she is making.* The white tiger thought as he tried holding in a laugh as she gave Mendax, 'I know what I am talking about' look. Now, he wanted to keep teasing her to see her reactions.

"Sea," Mendax said once more to get a rise out of her.

"Ocean!" Kadupul barked with an irritated tone.

This went on for quite a bit of time before the Prince had to ruin his fun.

"Guys, different species in different territories will describe the body of water protecting the island in different terms." Rex hissed, his blue eyes looking tired as he turned to look at his face.

*Rex is not looking too good.* He thought. *Bengal Tigers are native to rainforest/jungle areas, so that can't be it.* He added as he tried to figure out what was wrong with his friend.

*Note: The Flors Jungle of the island also acts as a Rainforest. Now, the reason is not clear how it is (Wild101Life forgot to add that location). But some believed that non-royal Phoenixes help maintain the Jungle in such an extreme way that the territory suits Rainforest animals as well.*

"Wait?" Kadupul asked, turning her head in the direction Rex was coming from. Her milky white eyes tend to find his face with surprising accuracy.

*Blind animals will tend to look in any direction of where the animal is. However, do not directly look at the creature at any given moment. So, how come Kadupul can almost "sense" Rex's location?* He thought as he noticed Rex's falter but checked himself in time before falling. *He's not eating.* He thought as he ran over to him, but Kadupul had him beat as she was already standing by his shoulder. She made pushing motions as if trying to wake the big cat.
