A fight with an Assassin

Aletio POV~

I and Subaru are now standing in the slums area. The same bridge on which I saw the lesser spirits.

"Okay, then you wait here and I will go and find out where Felt lives." Subaru said to which I just nodded.

Then Subaru went ahead while I waited at the bridge.

'In the mean time, I should try to get Mana sense and Mana manipulation. Those two skills would help me out in the near future, not to mention I can't get any active skills without those.'

So, I closed my eyes while standing there and tried to sense the mana inside my body. At first I didn't detect anything but as I tried to concentrate, I felt something.

[You have acquired E rank passive skill Concentration]

No. Not that. I felt a kind of energy inside of me. The energy was flowing freely in my entire body, completely uninterrupted by anything.

[Concentration has leveled up]

[You have acquired E rank passive skill Mana Sense]

Sure enough. This energy is indeed Mana.

I then try and grab a hold of it. And contrary to my thought, it was quiet easy to do it.

[Mana Sense had leveled up]

[Mana Manipulation has leveled up]

[Concentration Lvl: 1 has become Concentration Lvl: 3]

[Mana Sense Lvl: 1 has become Mana Sense Lvl: 2]

[Mana Manipulation Lvl: 1 had become Mana Manipulation Lvl: 2]

'That's a lot of level ups.'

I was quite excited about finally getting a hold of this skill. After all, it's used to do magic for god's sake. Actual Magic!

'I shouldn't get so excited. The skills are still weak.'

In 'Immortal Heroes' the skill grades determine the overall effectiveness, power, destructibility and flexibility. F rank was the lowest grade which meant the skill was quite useless but still better than someone who didn't have the skill. E rank meant that the skill was in beginner stage and the person has just recently started to master it. D rank generally represented a decent amount of mastery over the said skill while C rank represented months of practice. Now, after this was where skills usually started to lose their level up speed. B rank represented years of training and battle experience. These skills were very powerful. After that came A rank skills. These skills were only possessed by people who have about two or three decades of experience in doing the said thing. Anyone with an A rank skill could be said to be a master of their own art.

After A rank came the S rank. Skills of this rank were only possessed by people who could be considered as monsters. They could easily dominate an entire battlefield with a skill of this caliber.

And after S class...

Let's not talk about that.

While I was thinking about these things, Subaru came back.

"Hey Aletio! I found out where Felt lives. Come on, follow me."

And so, after a few minutes of walking we arrived at small run-down shack. Actually, 'm not sure if this qualifies as a shack but anyway.
