Ok so
I have been wanting to do this rant for a long time now and since this subject was recently brought up and now I have to write down how mad I am, here we are. Why I am mad? Marvel. Just Marvel. Nothing more. Enough said for an introduction I need to vent somewhere. Here's everything they have done wrong when it comes to mythology.

Thor

Well yeah the protagonist is a mistake himself

Well yeah the protagonist is a mistake himself. His personality is just...no.
1. Personality
If you know a myth or two, you have probably understood that Thor is a great warrior but not essentially a deep thinker. He is the type of person who threatens another person that he will break every bone in his body and slaughters ice giants with genuine joy and happiness. Even though Thor starts with a main character who is rather close to the original, as the movie continues he keeps to distance from his mythology self turning into a modern, "cool" and smart superhero who is more into quotes like "Because that's what heroes do ;) " than "Kill 'em all >:D ". Character developments are great but not when you defy something as significant as the personality of the original character your protagonist is supposed to be.
2. Appearence
Of what I know, his appearence is mostly okay if you exclude the wrong hair colour. The original Thor has red hair -not blonde- but this mistake isn't that important and a lot of people picture Thor as a blond so it's ok
3. Other
I 'm pretty sure giving him all those love stories and girlfriends while completing omitting the fact that he has a wife called Sif isn't really nice to the original Thor

Odin

Actually one of the most accurate things in the movies but still quite wrong when it comes to certain things

Actually one of the most accurate things in the movies but still quite wrong when it comes to certain things.
1. Personality
Vikings were people whose life largely revolved around fight and battle. They were warriors and you can clearly see how glorious and important battle was to them just by taking a look at the fact that, according to their beliefs, only a warrior who had died in battle would be able to go to Valhalla -their counterpart of Heaven. Odin may be a god who appreciates knoweldge beyond everything else but he is still a Viking, a fierce warrior. Where's that side of him in his Marvel edition? I only see a kind old man in there. Yes it was mentioned that he used to favour war in the past but the real Odin favours war from the beginning to the end.
2. Appearence
Actually his appearence is alright. He is actually pretty close to how I personally imagined him as well and I like how they bothered to show that he has lost one of his eyes as well
3. Other
In Thor: Ragnarok, he...well...dies. To be honest, I don't remember the movies that well, so I 'm not sure how he died but of what I recall, it was before Ragnarok and according to the mythology, he dies during this battle and not prior to it. We will see more details about Ragnarok later
