Chapter 33

CEARA'S POV

"Papasok na ako sa trabaho, Ma! Pa!" pagpapaalam ko sa kanilang dalawa na busy sa pag-inom nang kape sa sala. They both looked at me from the stairs where I was currently descending towards them.

"Is your leave over?" Mama asked me, so I nodded while pressing my lips together. I grabbed the strap of my bag and tapped my fingers there.

Bumaba ako at lumapit sa kanilang dalawa. I bent down and took a loaf of bread from the plate served in front of them that sat on the center table.

"Yeah. Tapos na. It's only three days and I'll go back to work again." I sighed and bit the bread I was holding.

Papa noticed my reaction, so he asked me. "Don't you want to work anymore Ceara?" He asked me seriously. I shook my head and sat in the chair in front of them. I crossed my legs and leaned back against the backrest.

"It's not that I don't want to work anymore or nagsasawa na ako. I'm just sad because my leave is over. I will go back to work again," I sighed again in front of my parents. They both looked at each other and faced me at the same time.

"You can take another leave," mungkahi sa akin ni Mama na ikinailing nang ulo ko.

"I want to, but I can't," I said.

I nodded quickly. "Syempre! Of course I really love to take a leave again! Sa leave ko lang ako nakakapagpahinga except sa day off ko." Kumagat ulit ako sa tinapay ko.

"Why don't you take it again? That's not a bad thing at all. If you are tired and stressed because of work, maybe your Dad can talk to Edmond about it," she said curiously.

"Malaki na ako," tatlong salita na aniko.

"Your Dad and I know that, Ceara. We are your parents and have raised you since you were a baby. What does that have to do with what we're talking about?" asked Papa.

I removed my body from leaning back in the chair and straightened my back. I looked at Mama and Papa and spoke.

"I just want to be independent, Ma, Pa."

"What did you say, Ceara?" pag-uulit ni Mama sa sinabi ko.

"I just want to be independent, Ma," ulit ko. "'Yong hindi ako nakadepende sa inyo ni Papa."

"You are already independent, Darling. You decide what you want. Hindi kami nakikialam nang Papa mo sayo. Well....." She shrugged. "Only once in a while if we think you need our help." Mama smiled at me.

I grimace and take the wallet out of my sling bag. "I thought about it before I graduated and I think it would be good if I returned ang mga cards niyo sa inyo." Papa and Mama eyes widened as I laid their cards down on the table. Mayro'n akong tigta-tatlong cards na galing kina Mama at Papa. Those three cards are from different banks where they deposit their money every week or every month.

"Ceara." Mama exclaimed in shock. "Puwede mong kunin ang lahat nang mga cards namin. We only use the money when we need it. Kaya kami mayroong bank account dahil sayo."

"Dahil sa akin?" ako naman ngayon ang nagulat.

"Yes. Because of you," Papa interjected. "We've been benefiting from our account ever since, but we really made these accounts for you."
