"Earth to Y/n, why are you glaring at every couple that passes by?" Gene questioned.

"I-I'm not glaring I'm just- observing. Why do these people act so mushy and showy on Valentine's Day? The 'holiday' is a corporate scheme to sell products, and I'm just saying, save it for the weekend... It's gross."

He smirked. "I think someone's jealous."

"About what?"

"Of all the love being spread." He leaned against the locker next to mine and held my hands in his.

"And you call me a dork..." I mumbled.

My locker neighbor ended up showing up and sighed. "You're blocking my locker."

Gene turned to the kid and narrowed his eyes at him. "Scram."

"But I need to get my-"

"Seems like a personal problem."

"You two could move y'know."

"You're still here?" Gene questioned.

The kid ran off.

"How sweet are you?" I retorted.

He placed a kiss atop my head. "I gotta show I care somehow, especially when you want so much attention cause it's Valentine's Day."

"You mean corporate scheme day, and no, I don't want anything different from you just cause it's what typical of today! We're not like the other girls! Er. Couples."

"Well, if you say so."

I sighed and opened my locker, a folded pink note slipping out. I organized my things and bent down to pick the paper up, noticing there was a lot written.

"Who's it from?" Gene asked.

I flipped it front and back, but there was no name. "I mean, I hope you with all that's written. Also, the paper was too tucked into my locker to have been slipped in, and you're the only other one that knows my code, so..."

"Some people have delicate, slender fingers," he retorted.

"Yeah, I can tell the person that wrote this is a pretty little dancer."

"Y/n, people can hear you!"

I giggled. "You're surprisingly bad at this. The secret's out."

"You're surprisingly not shocked by a clearly beautifully written handwritten note."

"I haven't read it yet! I'm not a speed reader..."

The bell rung and Gene groaned. "Read it and get back to me 3rd period. See you then."

"Alright! Byeee~"

We split off and I sped walk to homeroom, showing up past the time the bell had finished ringing, but better late than never! I took my seat and sighed. I was about to read the note from Gene, when I made eye contact with Laurance. Crap! I quickly and discreetly folded the note and slipped it into my pocket. I sent Laurance an awkward wave, and he moved to sit next to me.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Y/n."

"Corpor- uh. Happy Valentine's day!" Idiot.

"Got any plans for today with your boyfriend?" he asked.

I shook my head. "I'm not really a fan of Valentine's Day. It feels like a cheap cash grab..." I say as if I don't rush into Walmart February 15th when the chocolate goes on sale...

"Hmm, I get what you mean. Love should be celebrated everyday, but I think it's nice for love to be so in the air."

"Haha yeah, but then that's how Scorpios are made."
