The days before their last visit to Azkaban were spent checking and rechecking their bags, Hermione's Sanctuary, the house-elves, wands, new identities, and money.  Their position in the DOM gave them the opportunity to study each and every device.  One particular device kept drawing Lei's attention, almost like it was calling to her.  It was experimental.  The research on the device showed it was constructed during a freak electrical storm in an office that no longer exists near the Death Chamber.

That is probably why Leilani felt so drawn to it, being the Mistress of Death and all.  She learned that she held that title on her eighteenth birthday when Death himself showed up at her party.  Death had stopped time to converse with Leilani and informed her about everything that being his Mistress entitles, including immortality.  Lei had refused to have Death at her every beck and call, she suggested attending dinner on her birthday every year and only calling on Death if it was absolutely necessary.

Death was not something you would expect to take on a form of a very attractive man in a Jean jacket, but here he was.  Leilani could feel the power rolling off him in chilling waves of fear.  Death agreed to Leilani's terms on the condition that she join him as his apprentice once she was ready.

With everything on their person, they were transported to Azkaban prison.  All their belongings were heavily cloaked to avoid being confiscated by the guards.  They had to hand over their wands still.  Hermione handed over her beloved Vine with Dragon Heartstring that was returned to her by the Malfoys as part of their apology.  Leilani turned over her Holly with Pheonix Feather to the guards, the Elder is stashed away in her personal Mokeskin bag stuck to her side.  Both she and Hermione went to an unregistered wandmaker for new wands, and an Aspen wood with Dragon Heartstring wand for Greyback since his original wand was snapped.  Hermione also bought and found supplies for wand making, something Fenrir mentioned he was good at before the first wizarding war.

The witches followed the single guard to the newly constructed top floor.  The guard went over the usual regulations and warnings before letting them into the cell after saying he will return in an hour to retrieve them.  Hermione nodded her thanks as the cell door closed, then turned to Fenrir.  He was currently lying on a mat on the cold, stone floor with a thin, itchy blanket thrown over him.  The time in Azkaban has not been kind to the werewolf, he was malnourished, unwashed, and lethargic.  Lei stayed by the door to listen for the guard.  Hermione crossed the small space, kneeled by Fenrir, and lightly shook him.  He slowly sat up, his eyes lit up when he realized Hermione was serious about taking him with them.

Hermione quickly dug into her bag and pulled out some men's clothing for Fenrir to change into before they made this journey, not wanting to land anywhere with a man in prison clothes.  While he changed, Hermione went to stand next to Leilani and gave a slight nod that they were ready.  They had prepared a Gollum to take Fenrir's place.  Hermione helped dress the Gollum in the old, worn prison clothes Fenrir just took off and laid them down on the mat.  The Gollum would last three days before dissolving into a pile of clay.  Fenrir stood next to the witches, and whispered, "Are you sure?"  He was asking if they were absolutely sure about taking him.  Leilani nodded her head yes.  Hermione smiled, and looked up at her mate, "We're sure.  We have no idea where we're going, so it will be a new start for all of us."

Hermione dug deeper into her Mokeskin bag and pulled out the interdimensional travel device.  The device looked like a brass sundial with a magnetic compass, instead of numbers on the outer ring there were several runes.  The inner ring also had runes, however, the runes were really close together, as well as two needles.  Each rune on the outer ring represented a time, the runes on the inner ring were dimensions.  The needles would spin, once they stop spinning the device will pull the travelers to their destination.  Hermione handed the device to Lei to hold while she turned the winding key at the top of the outer ring.

While the needles started to spin, Hermione grabbed Lei's free hand and Fenrir's hand in a tight grip.  Fenrir clenched onto Leilani's crook of her arm and held tight.  Their hour was up and the guard was approaching as the needles stopped. A sensation similar to a portkey was felt by the three of them, and a bright white light flooded the cell from the device as they vanished.  The guard unlocked the cell in time to see the light dim.  The guard reported what he saw.  The disappearance of Hermione Granger and Leilani Potter was and still is a mystery.
