Before the truth

Chapter 33

Riley's POV

As I step outside guess who I see. James speaking to the guy that pulled me out of the road that one time. It was nice if him too, but I still cannot get over what he did. It's too late to go back inside now. When the door shut, James turned around seeing me.

"hey Riley" he comes over to me, he puts his hand on my waist pulling me closer to him. There's no way i can get out of this now, i realise, as James walks me over. "Riley this is-"

"I know who he is" my voice sounds annoyed

"So you two know each other" Is all James is able to say. The guy turns to me

"As the expression, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer" He tells me before walking off, he shows no expressions towards me, because he knows i read peoples expressions, he managed to work his way around it.

James' POVI have no idea how they know each other, but i try not to ask. Riley's always been a mystery to me, i can never seem to work out the truth with her. I choose not to ask her, to avoid her getting mad again. I tell Riley that I'm going out and i go to his house. If i can't get the truth out of Riley, I'm gonna get the truth out of him. I knock on his door, but west answers instead.

"Hey bro what's up" he ask me

"Is Shane in"

"well it's his house so he should be" He jokes "Hunter's here too, we did ask you but you seemed a little occupied with Riley"

"What about Eldon" It's weird that Eldon never came over

"Nahh, he hasn't been talking to us, we asked him but he said he was busy." I know Eldon, and he must be pretty upset, he's hardly spoken to me and the boys, it's not like him.

"We need to talk" I say to Shane once i find the room he's in "About Riley" I add just to see his reaction. He stiffens up a little when I mention Riley.

"Trust James to wanna speak about Riley" Hunter mutters and west laughs.

"Riley?" He asks as though he doesn't know who she is

"I know you Know who I'm on about, I introduced you two to each other about 10 minutes ago... Just to find out you already knew each other" I raise my voice a little

"Okay I know her" He admits "What do you wanna know about her?"

"About her reaction when she saw you, what happened"

"Riley wouldn't tell you" He says, what is that supposed to mean.

"What?"

"I can't break her promise, and since you're not gonna tell her you asked me about it, I will say that it was more to do with the fact she wanted to send me a signal" the doorbell rings and he get's up to answer it. "What are you doing here" I hear him say, his voice emotionless,

"I want to speak, alone" I hear a girl say, i hear the door close and it goes silent. Meaning they've gone outside. West goes and opens a window, which means we can now her the conversation

Riley's POV
I decide to go for a walk to a familiar faces' house. I ring his doorbell

"What are you doing here?" He asks, I can tell that he's again hiding his emotions around me.

"I wanted to speak to you, alone" I refer to earlier on when James was around. He steps outside, shutting the door behind him. "James isn't to know anything about the past" i get straight to the point just so i can make the point clear. He doesn't say anything "Shane" i complain

"I know, your signal came through clearly. As always"

"And..?" I ask, trying to find out if he's gonna say anything

"Well since you're talking to me again because of it, your secrets safe with me" I hug him to say thank you

"I can't forgive you though" I say unable to let myself break from the hug. But he does it for me and looks me in the eye

"Then don't" is the last thing he says before opening the door, and i walk away.

A/N: Sorry I legit forgot about this book, I found it and there's 2 saved in draft chapters so I decide to post but I need to reread the book to carry it in cos I've forgot what it's about honestly
