This sucked. Completely sucked. Meredith finally had the day off and now Derek had his own 36 hour shift to work. Apparently who ever made the schedules hated them because in the past week Derek felt like he hadn't seen Meredith at all. It's not like they were doing it on purpose. Nobody knew that they were a couple except them. But still he wished they had a chance to spend more time together especially after the break-in.

Meredith was still staying at his Mom's house while the police completed their investigation and both she and his mother were asleep by the time he got home home from the hospital. He tried to sleep in his own bed, tossing and turning without Meredith in his arms, before quietly walking down the hall and going into her room, and crawling into bed with her.

"What are you doing?" She mumbled, swatting at her nose a bit.

"Go back to sleep." He whispered, wrapping his arms around her.

"Your Mom...." She whispered, still lying on her side.

"She's sound asleep."

"Hmm...."

"Missed you..."

"Missed you too...." She mumbled.

"Okay...Sleep..."

"Your hand is on my ass."

"I missed it."

"Huh...."

"Go to sleep." He laughed, moving his hand around her waist.

"I'm cold."

"Do you want another blanket?"

"No...." She swatted at her nose again.

"What are you doing?" He laughed, pulling her closer.

"Are you making fun of me?"

"No."

"Okay...." She mumbled again.

"Sorry for waking you up."

"No you're not."

"Okay...I'm not."

"Ehh...."

"Can we have sex?" Derek whispered.

"No."

"Nuts."

"Nuts?"

"You're nuts....because if I had said yes...you would have already started."

"I was just checking to see if you were paying attention to me."

"Uh huh...."

"Did you have a good day with my mom?"

"She took my to look at guard dogs."

"Did you like any of them?"

"You mean am I getting one?" Meredith finally turned over, looking at him. "No."

"Why not?" Derek frowned.

"Intern." Meredith groaned.

"Security systems don't need to be walked...or fed."

"They're a crock."

"You're house wouldn't be a mess if you had one."

"They cost a lot."

"I know."

"I'm not going to pay a crap load of money for a system that will just phone the police."
