Wei Ying spent an hour just to calm himself down. I sat there holding him and comforting him. I asked him if he was willing to continue with Empathy as he is a mess after just a few hours of it. He assured me he will be okay and he is happy that I was there.

"The next of it won't be easy to watch either," I told him, "And later for what does happen next, is the reason I blame myself a lot for what happened. You never once said anything to anyone about it so it was hard to know at the time, but I questioned you and misunderstood you, but I still believed in you. It is complicated."

"I will know when I see," he said, "I am ready to continue."

I nodded and gave him my hands. The next portion of empathy, we watched as he and his siblings mourned the loss of Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu, and all of the shidi and shimei in Lotus Pier. He witnessed Jiang Wanyin distract the wen patrol so he could get medicine for his sick shijie, but at the time he thought he left for revenge. He saw as he escaped with Wen Ning's help, and then the golden core happened. He watched it all, the research, the transfer, and the drop into the burial mounds. At that point he stopped so he could breathe, he stopped as he saw himself falling.

"That scenario your brother said the first lecture, it was that scenario?" Wei Ying said, "I said I would give up my core for him as he was a future clan leader and he can't run a clan without it. I used to live without a golden core before Uncle Jiang took me in, so I know how to survive without one....But I was thrown into the burial mounds."

"You got out," I told him.

"I did? I did not die there?" He asked.

"No, and that actually surprised me, but you survived the burial mounds and came out after three months," I told him.

"So do you have that memory or just knowledge of it?" He asked.

"I have that memory, I know everything....probably more than you expect me to know," I told him, "I wish I knew these things then, otherwise I wouldn't feel so guilty."

"Until I know why you are saying you feel guilty, I don't want you to think that," he told me, "if you said I never told anyone anything, you can't be guilty for not knowing."

"Even though I didn't know what you were going through, I should have done more to support you," I told him, "I couldn't save you from dying that day. I couldn't get to your shijie on time to help her. I felt so hopeless!"

I was crying now as he pulled me into a hug. Only a few moments later, Xiongzhang entered the Jingshi to talk about some things.

"What's going on?" Xiongzhang asked.

"Lan Zhan told me the truth," Wei Ying answered, "about the past, what I did. What I didn't....he is filled with guilt and I can't convince him it's not his fault. If anything it is mine for not being vocal about it."

"It isn't your fault either, A'Xian," my brother told him sitting on the other side me me and put his hand on my back, "if anyone is to blame, it is the clans for not doing their job properly and letting greed take over them."

Wei Ying nodded, "we were going through empathy to see the memories. I stopped as I just watched the core being transferred and tossed into the burial mounds. I don't know what happened from there. Lan Zhan said I didn't die there."

"You did not," Xichen said, "if Wangji is not in the best condition to continue, I have those memories as well."

"You are willing to do empathy?" Wei Ying asked.

"I am," Xiongzhang agreed.

I decided to allow them to continue as I made sure they stayed calm. I took out Wangji, my zither, and had it ready in case I needed to use it. I sat there for a good while just watching them. Tears falling down Wei Ying's eyes...they stopped so suddenly though and looked at me like I did something. My brother pulled a smile and Wei Ying was a bit more shocked, and his ears were turning red.

"What?" I asked.

"Phoenix mountain?" Xiongzhang questioned as a way to ask me if I remember.

I remember that day very well. It was a shit show..... 'THE KISS! Fuck!' I thought to my self.

"Ugh, I have no words other than I am sorry for crossing the line," I said.

Wei Ying laughed. He laughed so hard he was hunched over holding his stomach, so hard tears wear falling. My brother could only laugh at everything that is happening.

"What is so funny?" I asked.

"You thought I would be mad if I found out it was you?!?" Wei Ying asked through his laughter, "I would be mad if it was anyone other then you."

I was shocked to hear that...he doesn't remember that even personally just watching the memory. How would he feel in the moment? But then again, we are together now, happy and in love. That has to say something I guess.

"You are glad it was me? Not anyone else? I remember you telling me then that you kissed a lot of people," I told him.

He stopped laughing, "I must have been lying because up until recently, I had only kissed you, no one else. I may be a flirt, but I don't kiss just anyone. These lips on reserve for you Lan Zhan."

My brother laughed, "see, I tried hard to get you to open up back then about how you feel but you are so stubbor," brother said.

Wei Ying shook his head, "the shooting arrows, not happy about the innocent people standing in front of the targets, but my archery is still on point as I can see," Wei Ying said, "Jiang Shushu taught me how to shoot but I practiced on my own a lot. Even when it came to practicing my sword, I have my own sword technique that is fit for me and Suibian."

I chuckled, "still can't get over that sword's name. It's clever though, I'll give you that."

"Hey, I tried to think of other names but none of them seemed to sit right for me. So I told Uncle Suibian, (whatever). And it became engraved onto my sword. Plus it can be something like, 'Whatever may be, or Whatever the cost.' It can have thousands of meanings to it."

"As expected from Cangse Sanren's son," Xiongzhang said, "shall we continue?"

Wei Ying nodded. I know that at this point, is where it really takes a turn for the worst.
