Chapter 11: Idea

“It should be around here…”

Felix was looking around in front of an old house. The house was well made, even if it had its years it was still firm standing.

“Qiu, are you sure that Fang Yu leaves here?”  Felix asked. His face didn't look too good. 

<Yes, I am sure. This is the house that the village head gave to Fang Yu to leave.>

Fix didn't know how he was feeling. I just wasn't very happy with the thought of Fang Yu leaving in this type of environment. Indeed, the house was robust and firm, at least it wouldn't fall down. But it still wasn't very good. The roof and walls had some openings, so the cold wind could enter inside. 

Today Felix was here to help Fang Yu to put some insulation of konoe fruit inside this old house. 

Because, probably without it, the house would be too cold to leave in. 

Opening the door, Fang Yu came out of the house. “Little Fel, you are here. Sorry to make you help me with this cold.” said Fang Yu apologetic. 

“Don't worry Brother Yu, is fine. Besides, it is not too cold.” Even if Felix said it, his checks were still red because of the cold wind. 

“Come inside, I already have everything we need.” 

Fang Yu took Felix inside the house. Inside, there were some wood tiles, another batch of konoe fruits, a tiny kitchen on the side and a dinner table in the center. 

“Well, let's do it!” Felix was full of motivation. 

Two hours later, Fang Yu and Felix finished all the walls on the first floor. 

“I'm tired…” 

<Where did your motivation go?>

Felix didn't bother to answer his system. All that worked was really tiring for this body. But to bother Felix even more was that Fang Yu looked perfectly fine after all that hard work. 

“Sorry Little Fel, you surely are tired. Here, have some water.” 

“Thanks.” Felix grabbed the cub and drank some water. He couldn't help but miss some of the sweet drinks that he used to have back in the pet cafe. His favorite was a chocolate frappé with milk. It was perfect with some sweets by the side. 

It was until another two hours later that Fang Yu and Felix finished working on the second floor of the house. Furthermore, it was basically Fang Yu's bedroom. Besides an old bed, there wasn't much inside.

“Thanks again for your help, Little Fel. Without your help, I wouldn't be able to finish so soon.”

“Don't worry, Brother Yu. I enjoy spending time with you.” Felix's talk without thinking, when the actual words came out of his mouth he was embarrassed. Having his cheeks flush red, he quickly looked sideways.

Fang Yu was also shy because of the statement. Unconsciously, there were some disturbances deep inside his heart. A wild idea ran through his mind, but looking at the empty room and old walls, those thoughts quickly vanished.

“Well, it's getting late, I will send you back.” Trying to change the atmosphere, Fang Yu was going to take Felix back to his house.

It was almost six o'clock and because of the cold weather,  on the way back there weren't a lot of people on the streets. Winter was coming closer and closer, with the harvest of the season finished, the villagers were more relaxed, but there were some villagers doing business until the first blizzard arrived.

Felix was walking on the street when he noticed the stall of an old man. Glaring at what the old man was selling, Felix couldn't help to be surprised. “Qiu! Isn't this!?”

Knowing what his host was thinking, the rabbit system said happily. <Yes Host! It is what you think!>

Cacao Beans!

There was no doubt, the brownish seeds that the old man had on his stall were cacao beans!

Felix approached, excited to the stall. Looking at the new customers, the old man said happily. “Hey there, Felix, do you find something you like?”

Felix's search on his memories and remembers that this old man was surname Brown. All the villagers call him Old Brown. He is a human that married a hamster beast woman. Together they only had one son. Now years later, his wife passed away before him. So now he was living with his son and daughter-in-law. In order to not keep bored, Old Brown put a stall of some seed that his family farms on the fields. 

“Old Brown, what's this?” Felix asked, pointing out the cacao beans.

“This? These are only some bad seedlings that grow everywhere on the north side of the forest. My grandson took a lot of these things, thinking that was something good.” Old Brown grandchild was only five years old this year. So when he went with his father to collect wood, he found the seeds and took it without his parents knowing.

“Grows everywhere…?” Felix's excitement was growing by the second. “Old Brown, I want all these!”

“Huh?” Old Brown didn't expect that he actually found someone willing to buy these things. Thinking about the naive personality of the child, he said softly, “Are you sure? This thing's taste is not good. Even if they grow everywhere, no one is actually willing to eat it.”

“They so bad?” Fang Yu, who was beside Felix all the time, didn't know about these weird brown seeds. 

“If you don't believe me, taste one!” Said Old Brown.

“Then excuse me.” Fang Yu took one cacao bean and put it in his mouth. Immediately, his face changed and spit out the thing. “Blah, it tastes too bitter.”

“Hahaha! I told you!” Looking at the bitter face of Fang Yu, Old Brown laughed very hard.

“Don't buy it Little Fel, it's not worth it.” Having a bitter taste in his mouth, Fang Yu still reminds Felix.

“Don't worry, Brother Yu. Old Brown, I want it all.” Felix said as he took out his money pouch.

Looking that they couldn't change his mind. Old Brown didn't intend to keep trying. “Bah, just take it. I wasn't expecting to sell it in the first place. I only took it to the stall because my grandchild would cry otherwise.”

“Are you sure?” 

“Yeah. Is this, or it would end in the trash.”

“Well then, thank you, Old Brown.” Felix put all the cacao beans in his basket.

Fang Yu and Felix said goodbye to Old Brown and continued their way home. Looking at the basket, Fang Yu couldn't help but ask. “Why do you want those things? It tastes so bad.” 

“Brother Yu.” Felix stopped his feet and looked at Fang Yu very seriously. 

“Y-yes?” The serious look made Fang Yu a little nervous. But he still thought that Felix looked cute with that expression. 

“Would you like to make some money?”
