Great. So, let me get this straight. The Darkling knows I'm a shadow summoner. Mother knows I'm a sun summoner. Zoya knows nothing. Genya and Baghra both know I'm both.

Who would have guessed?

I thought I had a plan, but things were spiralling out of control. Fast.

At least no one knew of my full capabilities.

Yet.

I really needed Mother to show up soon.

If only I had someone to...

Like an answer to an unfinished prayer, Genya waltzed in.

"Rise and shine, Sunshine."

Her radiance diminished when she saw me.

"Oh, you're up."

"Sorry to disappoint," I groaned.

"I was hoping to wake you up. You know I love it when you scowl."

I gave her a weak smile.

A small offering which she quickly picked up on.

"What's wrong?"

"Can I trust you?"

"No."

"I'm going to tell you anyway."

She nodded.

"When do you think the sun summoner will arrive?"

"Why do you want that? While she's not found, you are the Darkling's favourite."

I didn't know what to say to that.

"But I am a sun summoner."

"Yes, you are. But you're not the sun summoner, right?"

I couldn't outright answer that, so I responded with a question.

"How long do you think I can keep this up?"

"From the Darkling? I bet he already knows."

"No. The General wouldn't beat around the bush, not with a sun summoner in his hands. I bet I'd be in a golden kefta by now."
