For You

I stomp to my car and glare at Rickelle when I find him staring at me.

Nathan would be so heartbroken if I tell him this. Oh, and Soraya. Poor, poor Soraya. I'll visit her tomorrow seeing as I have plans tonight with Nathan.

I begin my drive to Manhattan,  it's been nearly two months since I'd last been to work. Like physically . I somehow miss the simplicity of my life before Nathan. Although, not entirely as I truthfully enjoy having him around.

Soft music is playing through the speakers. It takes a few seconds for me to realise that the soft melody is a Kenny Lattimore song.

All I am is for you.

He says and my heart swells. For you, it's been a while since I heard the song.

Back in high school, when the song was still new to our ears, my parents would play it

On Sunday evenings right after my mother's desserts. They would be in the backyard deck. Swaying from side to side. Adoring each other.

My dad would always step on my mother's feet by mistake but they'd laugh at it.

I longed for a love like that everytime I saw them. The way my father could read my mother. Those two barely had to say anything to each other, just their eyes communicated volumes.

I smile to myself as the melody concludes. It's nice to actually listen to music and not feel sad.

A few songs later, I'm parking the car by Arraine's offices. I step into the building.

The security guy standing by the door is staring at me, and then at the car that I press closed. I notice a few teenage boys that I gawking at it as well. I smile.

The attention this early morning is lovely.

The traffic this morning was that bad, so I arrived here at about one in the afternoon after that nonsense of a brunch.

I step into the office and immediately eyes land on me.

The receptionist,  Mrs Kingston, actually takes a few moments to gape at my appearance.

I only give her a kurt nod. She returns it. Walking further in, I pass by the studios.  Camera men are shooting pictures of different models and when they see me they stop and stare at me.

One of the journalist smirks. Literally.

I knock on Arraine's door.

When I push myself into the office, my jaw almost drops.

Arraine has a little bump on her belly.

A gasp echoes through the room, which causes her to smile crazily.

"Gemma, it's been such a long time." She says walking over to embrace me.

She kisses both my cheeks and I do the same.

"Arraine,  and you're a mom to be?" I ask smiling.

She returns the smile and nods. She looks absolutely shiny. Like she is glowing.

We sit and chat for two hours. Before the conversation heads a direction I am not quiet ready for.

"So Nathan?" She asks, sending me suggestive looks.

"What about him?" I ask smiling. Although I know exactly what she's going to say.

"How is he?" She asks almost folding her arms over her little belly.

"He is fine." I say smiling again.

"Come on, you don't expect me to eat that up?" She pushes.

"Fine, he is probably the most caring man I've ever met. He loves my son like he is his own. He literally plays with my child. He takes me out on ice cream dates and dinner dates. Then he does things like yell compliments as I walk out the door. " I say.
