"Three days? Ang tagal naman non, last time you didn't even requested anything when you got transferred to night shift. Tapos ngayon,"

Niraiah looks away after hearing Mariel's confusion. She could feel the latter looking at her in suspicion while staring at her up and down.

"You're acting suspiciously, Niraiah."

"What do you mean by that? Diba pwede tinatamad lang talaga akong magtrabaho?" Sabi ni Niraiah habang binubuklat ang mga papeles na nakapatong sa lamesa niya, "I rarely asked for leave anyway. The most recent leave I had is when I fell sick, and I didn't even get to actually take a rest because of it." Nakangusong reklamo niya, napairap naman ng mata niya si Mariel. 

"So, saan ka pupunta sa tatlong araw na iyon?"

"Ano po, mags-sleep-over ako sa bahay ng kaibigan ko." Mahinang sagot ni Niraiah sabay yuko ng ulo para hindi makita ni Mariel ang pamumula ng kaniyang mukha.

"Kaibigan? Sino?" Mariel asked while raising her brows, "Is she someone I know?"

Niraiah flinched and gulped at the term 'she' that Mariel used.

"Hardly." Pagsabi niya ng totoo.

I mean, Reious and Mariel went to the same grocery store. If Niraiah's guessed is right, both of them had been going into the same grocery store for years. So it is impossible that they haven't stumble upon you other each other there. 

"Hardly, you say?" Sinubukan ni Mariel na alalahanin lahat ng mga naging kaibigan ni Niraiah sa nagdaang taon. "Okay, basta magiingat ka." Sabi niya nang wala siyang maisip sa kanila na maaaring puntahan ni Niraiah. "Sige na, aalis na ako. Today is your last day working as a night-shift, so just bare with it and don't to things that is not your job." Paalala ni Mariel sabay kuha ng kaniyang gamit, "Bye, lock the doors."

Niraiah nodded her head and watches Mariel leave before heaving a deep sigh.

'Ang hirap namang magsinungaling.'

Sabi ni Niraiah sa sarili niya habang sinusuklay ang nakalugay niyang buhok gamit ang kaniyang mga daliri. 

Wala naman talagang rason bakit kailangan niyang magsinungaling kay Mariel, pero kasi, iniiwasan niyang makatanggap ng mga kumplikadong tanong mula rito. Katulad na lang na,

‘Sino ba si Reious?’

It happened yesterday after she ended her call to Reious. Just like what he said, a food delivery from a famous restaurant in the city came to her apartment and delivered some food for her.

Hindi naman masyadong marami ang pinaorder na pagkain ni Reious, sapat lang para sa kaniya. Pero nang sinubukan niyang itanong kung magkano iyon, the delivery man told her it was already paid.

When she insist to know how much the food are, she was shocked beyond reason.

The bill for four different dish of foods are almost Php.10,000.

'That is almost my salary for the month!'

Sumakit bigla ang ulo ni Niraiah nang malaman kung gaano kalaki ang binayaran ni Reious sa pagkain niya palang, but of course, she was still able to finish the food.

'Grabe, gaano ba kayaman itong lalaki na ito?'

Medyo nakakaramdam tuloy siya ng kaba tungkol kay Reious, at sa mga bagay na hindi niya pa alam tungkol dito. And what's more, she's about to go to his house the next day.
