Eh, I might as well go out, Check out my surroundings a bit. . .Besides, The nearby town is so small, It might not even have restaurants that do delivery.

Sighing, I grabbed my jacket and car keys and made my way through the maze of remaining boxes to the door.

The sun was starting to set as I got out on the road, My old, Beat up car's headlights were very quickly becoming the only source of light as I drove down the surprisingly windy gravel road that led to my home.

There were fields of wheat and corn lining either side of the road, No sign of any kind of non insect life on the road or in the fields on either side of my car.

It was eerie to an extent, Like a scene out of some alien movie. . .Or a murder one.

I watch too many movies. . .One shouldn't really be comparing real life to shows. . .It's late and it was just storming moments ago, Nothing's out right now because of both of those reasons.

Despite the perfectly logical reasoning I had. . .I remained on edge as I continued to drive.

I passed field after field of different crops, It took a while, But soon enough, I realized. . .I was lost.

Didn't I just pass that corn field? . . .Wait what am I thinking? Every single fucking corn field looks the same. . .

I drove for a bit longer, Hoping I'll find a landmark or something, Before eventually, I gave up, Pulling off to the side of the road and stopping.

Alright, Time to do what I should have done from the start. . .Look at a map. . .

I pulled out my phone before freezing.

You gotta be fucking kidding me. . .

No signal.

I resisted the urge to chuck it out the window, Opting instead to slowly put it away.

Well what am I gonna do now?

I dragged my fingers through my hair, A nervous habit of mine, As I tried to think of what I could do.

I was hungry and tired. . .Not much I could do without knowledge of my surroundings.

Time to retrace my steps I guess. . .Maybe my phone will get a signal somewhere along the way. . .

I started back up my car and was about to pull off onto the gravel road again when I saw movement out of the corner of my eye.

Stilling, I looked towards the clearly abandoned field that I had parked beside.

It was overgrown with grass and god knows what else, An abandoned piece of farm equipment sitting off to the side, Covered in all sorts of growing things and vines.

But sure enough, Something was moving near the middle of it.

Well. . .Moving wasn't exactly an accurate term for what the distant shape was doing. . .Writhing might be a better one.

It looked to be an animal of some sort. . .Had a medium tail and pointed ears. . .

Too big to be a fox. . .It might be a dog. . .

This road did look like a stereotypical road to abandon an unwanted dog on. . .

We don't have wolves in the area anymore. . .And coyotes also aren't that large
