Selected choice: -:Ask about the anchor:-

---------------------------------------------------------------

I. . .I don't know what to do. . .

Feeling lost, I stared numbly down at my own hands, the ever so faint scars on them from foolish childhood mistakes bringing to mind something my grandpa always told us.

No matter how lost you are in a situation, try and gather as much information as possible, you'll never know when you might need it.

I can. . .I can do that, that's a step. . .I'll. . .Figure out the rest as I go. . .

''What- Um, you mentioned an Anchor. . .What is that and uh. . .What does that entail?'' I hesitantly questioned, struggling to get my reeling brain to focus and format my fearful confusion in some manner that others could understand.

Sullivan smiled encouragingly at me even as Kian groaned at my question.

''Not more contract talk! This stuff is booooring!'' The cheerful man complained, flopping down on his side on the couch, more or less draping himself over the armrest.

''It's also important Kian, now hush please'' Sullivan chided as if he were speaking to a rowdy child and not a grown man who was build like a linebacker.

Said linebacker built man just rolled his eyes and pouted as he playfully slung an arm over his face, dramatically sighing as he did so.

''Fiiiine, do the cliffnotes version!'' Kian grumbled, still pouting dramatically, like some giant, sulky little kid, his antics drawing a fond huff from the pale man across from us.

''Let's start at the top then, Demi gods like us are unable to truly die. Our mortal forms can be destroyed, however, we will just end up being banished to the 'in-between' until we can gain a human anchor to tether us back to this plane of existence'' Sullivan started, adjusting his vest as he got comfortable in his chair as he clearly got ready for a long explanation.

I already had questions but I held my tongue, anxiously clasping my hands together as I waited for Sullivan to explain the whole situation before asking any questions.

''Once an anchor is made, it's near impossible to banish a demi god so long as the anchor lives and the contract isn't violated. Should they die, they won't get stuck in the in-between until they gain enough strength to escape, they'll instead be returned to their anchor in a faded form to regain their strength here on this plane'' Sullivan continued as Kian sat up again, moving closer to me silently, a small grin forming on his face.

Uh. . .Should I be worried?

''Maddox however, doesn't have any human in him to anchor him to this world unlike most demi gods. Meaning that he needs to be constantly absorbing humanity to remain here on this world, Typically he. . .Well, He eats and possesses humans. . .To remain here. With you as his anchor he won't need to eat anyone as you'll be securing him and us to this world just by remaining alive and in our presence'' Sullivan continued as Kian casually draped his arm back over my shoulders, starting to lean on me a bit, distracting me.

Confused, but assuming the man next to me just didn't want to drape over the arm of the couch anymore, I didn't push him off of me.

Plus. . .He did save me. . .It's the least I owe him.

''Beyond that, I do not know much else about what anchors are, however I can ask mother to send some books up from her library in the underworld on the subject if you wish'' The pale man murmured, his lips twitching up ever so slightly into a serene smile, reaching out to gently hold my hand again as he spoke, his touch settling stress inside me that I hadn't even noticed before.

Feeling my shoulders relax and the tension in my back release, an unconscious sigh escaping me before I could help it, my face instantly heating as soon as it did.

''Aww look at that Sully! He's all flustered!! Ya know, when we blush our faces don't turn red 'cause our blood isn't red like you humans? Sullivan told me so'' Kian happily rambled, aiming the second half of his ramble at me from where he leaned with his head on my shoulder, a crooked grin on his face as he smiled at me, his eyes almost. . .Seemingly glowing.

''O-Oh, I uh, I did not know that'' I whispered softly, the abrupt change in topic catching me off guard and making my brain more or less reboot.

Sullivan chuckled softly as Kian puffed up his chest a bit with pride, his eyes slipping closed as he continued to grin, snuggling a bit closer as he did so.

Oh my. . .I don't think it's safe for my heart to be beating this fast. . .

''Shh, you're going to be okay'' Sullivan soothed softly, his thumb rubbing at my skin in a soothing circle as he continued to hold my hand.

''As for what is expected of you as an anchor, luckily not too much. . .But still, I must apologize that you're one to begin with. . .'' Sullivan murmured, the grim atmosphere from before returning as he got back onto the unpleasant topic.

Awkwardly, I gave him an. . .Admittedly far too wobbily attempt at a soothing smile, giving his hand a hesitant squeeze.

''I mean, I would be d-dead if you hadn't made me one so. . .Thank you'' I whispered softly, his apology not sitting right with me despite the fact that I very much didn't want this.

He saved me. . .He shouldn't be saying sorry! This isn't what I wanted for my life. . .But it could be worse.

Sullivan's eyes widened ever so slightly for some reason, his lips parting slightly on a soft, surprised, 'oh' before he quickly composed himself, clearing his throat.

''Right, ahem, back onto topic. What is required of you. . .As our anchor to this world it's required and expected of you to survive and to a lesser extent, take care of yourself. We will help with that last part as you are also required to spend time and bond with each of us to keep the connection strong, what the bonding is will vary between the three of us, physical contact being a common route as Kian is attempting - and failing - to demonstrate right now'' Sullivan murmured, hi voice a bit rough with emotion before he cleared his throat again, his statement cause Kian to raise his head and turn to stare at me for a moment.

''Oh! Duh! Of course'' The darker skinned man chuckled out, sitting up before abruptly and far too suddenly shoved his hands up under my shirt, drawing a small squeal of shock from me as he abruptly grabbed onto my chest, his touch sending a breathless tingling warmth through me as he more or less cupped my pecs, his thumbs resting on my nipples.

''Skin contact, ha, sorry 'bout that cutie'' Kian chuckled out as my brain screeched to a halt, my face starting to burn as I held my breath, trembling ever so slightly as the tingling warmth seemed to radiate through my body, making my muscles relax even as my mind started to panic.
