--------------------------------------------------

Trembling slightly, I dialed Dario's number again, Praying to whatever deities are above for the other man to somehow hear his phone.

Where's the dog? I gotta find him. . .Maybe we can hide in a room until help arrives?

Once again, The phone rang.

I stumbled to my feet, Using my phone as a flashlight in my suddenly very dark home.

First thing's first, I've got to get something to use as a leash or else the hound will run off and potentially get himself killed.

The phone rang a second time.

I think I have a rope in one of the kitchen drawers. . .Dad made me buy it before I left for college 'Just incase'. . .Didn't know where to put it. . .

Rifling through the nearest drawer, I found the dark blue rope and a pair of nice sharp scissors.

My phone rang a third time.

Then it clicked.

'''Hello?'''

The slightly distorted and staticky voice of Dario nearly made me cry out in relief.

I could very faintly hear the loud bangs of fireworks going off in the background.

''Dario?'' I hesitantly questioned, Shocked that he had actually picked up.

I thought I'd have to brave this on my own. . .

'''Yes? Are you alright, You sound. . .Distraught?''' He questioned, The faint background noise of people and joy and fireworks starting to fade even more as he presumably walked away from the festival.

''I-I heard a thud outside, I found a corpse. . .A human one outside my house'' I explained shakily, Hurriedly looking from room to room for the hound.

At that moment, I distantly heard another thud from outside.

'''Excuse you, What? Are you alright? Are you alone right now?''' Dario questioned, His voice taking on a stern and concerned edge to it.

''My dog's here with me, But other than that, There shouldn't be anyone else here'' I answered nervously, Hearing a faint cracking sound from one of the rooms before the hound's familiar head poked out around the doorframe.

'''Shouldn't, But you don't know for sure. . .''' He guessed astutely, The faint sound of someone speaking to him in a different language making it over the phone.

I crouched down, Holding my phone in place with my shoulder as I tied knots in the rope, Making a make-shift collar leash combo that I had to struggle to force over the dog's head.

'''Blaze, Do me a favor, Stay away from any windows and or doors, I'm on my way over, If you can, Get your dog. Whatever you do though, Stay put until I arrive, Okay?''' Dario ordered, Having quickly said something to someone else before turning his full, Undivided attention towards me.

''O-Okay'' I answered right as my connection turned staticky. . .Then cut out.

No signal.

There came yet another thud from outside, Drawing a snarl from my companion.

''Shhh shh, No no, We've gotta be quiet'' I hissed out, Tugging him by the leash towards one of the inner rooms in my house, Furthest from any windows and or doors.
