Interesting. . .

Oh thank goodness there's one on that row.
''Room forty please, How much for a night?'' I questioned politely as the concerningly pale and skinny man just continued to stare blankly at me.
Does he need help? I don't think I can do much but maybe if this is an abduction situation I could help him escape. . .
The man grimaced slightly before handing me the key, Confusing me.
''Boss is letting people stay free of charge this week'' The pale man explained quietly, A grateful but amused look on his face
Oh. . .That's. . .That's an unusual combination. . .
He tilted his head slightly, As if listening to something before shaking his head.
''Well, I've gotta go back to bed. . .Your room is. . .On the second floor? In the left buildings'' He explained slowly, His brows furrowing ever so slightly as he spoke as if what he was saying was hard to focus on.
His words made my heart clench in guilty sympathy at the knowledge that I had woken him.
Ah poor guy, Better get out of his hair so he can go back to bed. . .
A small smile briefly flashed across his face before he abruptly turned on his heels and returned back through the door where he came from.
Oh. . .Okay then. . .
Shaking off how weird all this is, I slowly walked out of the office, Taking back in the tall buildings on either side.
The man with the silvery item was no where in sight. . .Wasn't sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing. . .
Just keep your head down Callum. . .Sleep while you can then get out of dodge so to speak.
The group of men that were peering out of the window before were all outside now, Smoking and quietly talking to each other. . .Positioned so said windows were blocked from view by their suit clad forms.
Oh. . .Oh dear. . .
I very quickly and abruptly turned my attention away from them. . .Having a strong feeling that whatever they're doing isn't something I should look into.
Making my way towards the motel room I was staying in tonight, I very nearly stepped in the slowly spreading pool of dark colored fluid that was seeping out under a door.
The air smelled strongly of a familiar coppery smell. . .
Blood. It smells like blood.
Looking back towards the gathering of men, I made eye contact with one of them.
His eyes narrowed slightly, Causing my heart to hitch slightly out of fear.
Covering my mouth and nose, I turned away from them, Keeping my head down as I made my way up to my room.
I can't help whoever is in there. . .The amount of blood on the ground is more than any living person could safely loose.
Rest in peace you poor soul. . .I am so sorry for your misfortune. . .
The warmth of light streaming through partly close curtains soothed my nerves as I climbed up the stairs to the upper levels.
Light equals safe right?
Inhaling slowly, I tried to calm the faint shaking of my limbs as I fumbled slightly with my room's key.
It's fine. . .This is America, I should expect nothing less than all of this. . .
Turning the key in the lock, I tried to open my room's door only to be stopped.
It's jammed?
I pushed against the door to no avail.
A small, Disappointed sigh left me as I slowly sat down, My back to the closed door.
Well. . .Can't be too surprised I guess. . .Looks like I'm sleeping in my car and praying I wake with all my organs still insid-
''Do you need some help?'' A warm voice questioned from above me.
Opening my eyes, I looked up towards the source of the voice.
The man who I had seen reading a book through the window was standing next to me, His dark skin illuminated by the golden light spilling out of his room's open door.
He tilted his head slightly, A kind, Sympathetic look on his face as he held his hand out towards me.
''Um. . .'' I whispered, Realizing I had been staring at him for far too long. . .Much longer than is considered polite.
The other man just smiled patiently, A look of understanding briefly flashing in his eyes.
''Name's Faer, Do you need some help?'' He questioned again, Much slower and gentler this time. . .Like how one would speak to someone with a headache.
Well now. . .That's a name and a half. . .At least he seems nice. . .
I gave him a grateful smile before slowly pushing myself to my feet.
''Callum, Yeah, I'd appreciate some help. . .My room key doesn't appear to be working'' I explained, Stepping aide slightly so the other man could move to stand in front of my door.
''Nice to meet you, The thing I've found out with these doors is that the locks are rusted to hell and back'' Faer explained, Turning the handle as he spoke.
''The trick to open them is to just ram your hip into it and pray'' He explained calmly before ramming his hip into the wooden door. . .Causing it to open with a jarring 'pop' sound.
''There we go!'' Faer chirped out happily, Drawing a surprised little laugh from me.
''Woah! Thanks man!'' I laughed out, Relieved that I wouldn't be sleeping in my car tonight! Also very impressed with the man next to me.
Before he could say anything back, A much too large rat proceeded to violently fling itself out through the just opened door with a loud screeching sound, Making both Faer and I jump backwards with shouts of surprise.
Beyond the door, In the vast darkness of the room. . .Beady eyes reflected the distant moon's light.
Thousand of beady little eyes.
''Got damn! Is there some kind of rat king in there or something?'' Faer whispered quietly, Gently tugging me next to him, Further away from my room's opened door.
''Maybe. . .Maybe those are just reflective stickers or something?'' I asked hopefully.
I took one look at Faer's sympathetic smile before letting out a disappointed sigh.
Guess I'm sleeping in my car tonight. . .
''Hey, If you want, You can stay in my room with me tonight. . .I promise I don't snore'' He offered kindly, Giving me a gentle smile as he spoke.
