Selected choice : -: Go home :-

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Rory's probably right. . .That dog most likely just had a nice morning run and is right back at home, Waiting to be let in.

There was no real point in continuing to wander around town, So I headed home, Keeping my eyes peeled as I passed field after field, Just incase my furry friend got himself stuck in another trap.

Pulling to a stop outside my house, I didn't see the familiar grey and black pelt of my new companion anywhere about.

Well. . .He did look awfully excited to see that other massive dog. . .Maybe that's his lady friend or something. . .

Shrugging, I headed inside, Careful to make sure I closed and locked the door behind me.

I could have sworn I had done so last night, But regardless, I was positive I did so now.

Safe and secure.

The power had been fixed while I was out today, Meaning the lights in my new, Old home, Were working once again.

I do hope the power doesn't go out with every storm, That'd get annoying very quickly.

Deciding that I had more than enough time on my hands, I set about exploring my home.

I hadn't really checked it out much before buying it.

I know, Not a smart thing to do, But, I was still mourning at the time and just wanted to get away from the place I grew up in and all the memories that went along with it.

Hence, Place out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere.

The extent of my 'Home checking' was to give a family realtor friend of ours a short list of things I like in a house and ask them to find something far away from my home town.

This was the place they deemed fitting for me. . .Or at the very least, Fitting for the emotional state I've been in.

So that left me with a house I know nothing about the blueprint of.

And what do you do when you have a house you're new to? You explore.

I spent the better remainder of my afternoon/evening just exploring the quaint little house.

It was a nice place, Had a few hidden crawlspaces and an old creaky attic I sure as hell wasn't exploring.

That's a death trap. I'm leaving that to the spiders and rats thank you very much.

Other than that, It was a generally cozy and comfortable place. . .Bit dusty though.

I was just about to start tackling some of the duct bunnies that filled this place when my phone started to ring, Drawing my attention to where I had left it on the 80's style countertop.

Picking it up, I was surprised to see Dario's name on the screen.

Oh- I haven't talked to him in a while. . .Geeze I feel like a jerk. . .After he went out of his way to help me last time. . .

''Hello?'' I greeted, Picking up the call and pressing it close to my ear.

'''Hello? Blaze?''' The slightly static-y voice of Dario questioned, The quiet sound of people talking filling the background noise.

''Yes? Is every thing okay?'' I questioned, Pausing my rummaging through boxes for cleaning supplies to give him my full attention.

Is he calling me because something happened?

'''Yes yes. . .Well, No and yes, Remember how I said I'd update you on the whole 'Murderer thing' if we get any information?''' He questioned, Reminding me of his kind offer the first day we met.

''Yeah! Let me guess, Nothing?'' I asked, Moving to sit on top of the counter as I spoke, My attention drifting to the nearest window and the darkening forest beyond it.

The trees look so eerie in the dark. . .

'''I wish. . .The coroner got back with us on the cause of death, It originally looked like he had been stabbed. . .But apparently he had been torn open by what looks like some sort of animal claws. . .Can't be one though considering we found a smeared, Bloody handprint on the handle of the passenger side door. . .And a footprint in the mud of the field. . .''' Dario explained, Making the very dark forest seem all the more deeper and scarier.

''Hell. . .That's. . .Utterly terrifying, Are you doing okay? That's gotta be scary to deal with. . .'' I questioned, Feeling sympathetic for the poor man who had to be present while all this was discovered.

I heard a small huffed chuckle leave him.

He sounded so very tired. . .

'''I'm doing alright. . .Just very tired. . .I was actually planning on going to the festival tomorrow, Figured it'd be a good distraction. . .Who knows, You might like it too. . .There's going to be a bunch of games. . .A small roller coaster, Bunch of fried food and even a Ferris wheel. . .Could be a nice distraction, There's even going to be fireworks once the sun sets''' Dario tempted, Bringing a small smile to my face before I heard someone shouting for Dario in the background.

'''Sorry to disturb you this late at night for such a short update, I'll let you know if anything else if found. . .Stay safe''' He said hurriedly before ending the call.

Well. . .That's some scary information. . .

Glancing up at the woods that surrounded my home, A small shiver ran down my spine.

I couldn't see further than two trees in.

What all is hiding in there?

Something large shifted in the shadows, Making me tense up.

What was that?

Cautiously, I pushed myself up off the counter, Sticking close to the walls as I made my way over to the window.

You've gotta be kidding me.

Letting out an exasperated sigh, I swung the backdoor open, Letting the giant hound friend of mine in.

Drops of blood were dripping from his muzzle. . .And the large, Very bloody bird held in said mouth.

''Really? No no, You're not bringing that into the house.'' I scolded, Trying to keep the dog from stepping inside. . .Only for him to instantly knock me to the ground.

Groaning in annoyance, I gave the dog a glare as he set the dead bird down on my chest, Wagging all the while.

Very proud of himself.
