Alright, We're not easing into choices this time as I'm sure ya'll know what to do

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

My old, Trusty car's headlights barely illuminated the concrete and rocky ground around it as I drove down the seemingly abandoned road, The sun having set an hour or so ago.

I'm exhausted. . .

I had spent all day driving. . .Which was far longer than I had ever driven before and far longer than I've ever wanted to.

And yet. . .I'm nowhere near my destination. . .

I was moving states away, To a coastal home that was at one time owned by my father. . .

All to get away from a crazy, Abusive ex whom I have a restraining order against.

Ain't that just lovely?

It was a bit bittersweet thinking about the fact that my dad was inadvertently helping to protect me. . .Even from the grave.

He had owned a small collection of houses that he'd buy when they were old, Ruined and falling apart then spend his time off work fixing them up with my siblings and I as well as our uncles and aunts from time to time.

It was his way of bonding with us as he knew construction very well. . .He owned a construction company after all.

He taught my sisters, Brother and I how to do basic repairs around the home and how to repair the most hopeless looking homes. . .

The house he had left me in his will had been something he had been slowly repairing for me ever since the day I was born. . .He had done so for all four of us. . .Putting all his love and care into the buildings as a final loving farewell for when we were old enough to move out.

It was a nice, Secluded place built at the top of some cliffs overlooking the sea. . .

You could see all sorts of ocean life just by looking out the large bay windows dad had installed facing the water.

Seals. . .Shark fins. . .When I was younger my siblings and I would even search the rock studded shore for 'Mermaid scales'.

Really they were just Jingle shells that would wash ashore with the tide and become stuck amongst the many rocks that lined the thin sand between the waves and the cliff edge the house was built on.

But to us little kids, The golden, White and pearl colored shells had to belong to beautiful sea bound beings.

It'll be nice to be back there again I guess. . .Haven't been in years. . .Not since dad died.

Letting out a heavy and tired sigh, I tried to zone back in to reality. . .I was driving after all. . .Even if there was nothing and no one else around that could get hurt should I swerve over the very faintly painted lines.

Damn. . .How long have I been driving with no one else around? I should probably be more aware of my surroundings since I'm. . .You know, Driving.

In a last attempt to keep myself awake, I turned on the radio.

Barely a signal came through, A testament to how far away from other cities/towns this place was.

Some very mangled and static filled song was trying its best to make its way out of my speakers. . .It was a very valiant effort on its part.

A sign, Up in the distance declared that there was a motel ahead.

The barren landscape around me showed no sign of any life existing anywhere nearby aside from the halfway dead grass poking up between the many many rocks.

Eventually the station I was trying to listen to changed over from some random music station to just some people talking.

'''Oh so nothing can scare you huh?''' The first radio host questioned, A laugh in their voice.

'''Now I didn't say that. . .You just suck at scary stories''' The second person shot back, Drawing a laugh from both the first and the third radio hosts.

'''Well, How about we bring around a scary story from reality, See if that gets you spooked 'eh? I bet our night owl listeners would love a little extra help staying awake too''' The first host spoke up, Getting the other two to let out nervous laughs.

'''Alright, This one comes straight from Washington county-''' The first started to say before being interrupted almost instantly.

'''Which one? Isn't there a Washington county in almost every state?''' The third one chuckled out earning a quiet 'you right' from host number two.

'''Ahem. Anyways. . .Last Sunday~ two bodies were found in Washington county~. . .It doesn't say which one, But! The news report does have a very vivid depiction of the murder''' One continued, Their voice sing song-y at first before becoming more serious.

'''Officer Dario Moreno and a civilian by the name of Blaze Smith were found Sunday morning after an apparently long search started by officer Moreno's concerned family''' One explained, Their voice dipping low into a whisper, Drawing people in.

Did they get lost and fall off a cliff or something?

'''Get this, They were found completely mutilated in a corn field after what appears to be a frantic run from something. . .Fucking huge paw prints were found all around the corpses, Which interestingly enough isn't the scariest part of this story. . .The scary part is they're now the fourth people found in the area having been seemingly killed and dismembered in an animalistic manner. . .Bite and claw marks all over thei-''' One was saying before a car horn loudly blared, Jolting me back awake soon enough for me to swerve out of oncoming.

A damaged and dust covered semi truck rumbled past me as I tried to catch my breath, My heart pounding in my chest like a frightened rabbit's.

Ah fuck. . .

'''-Damn! Talk about fucked up huh?''' Three chuckled out, Their voice a bit wobbly despite the forced cheer.

Reaching over, I turned off the radio, Deciding it was only making my drifting attention worse.

I'm so exhausted. . .

Up ahead, I could see the broken neon light covered sign for a run down motel stood out on the horizon not far up ahead.

Can I even make it home? I've been driving since last night. . .
