O R A B E L L A

The next day...

I woke up to the sun shining right on my face, causing me to groan out softly. When I looked at my phone and saw that I only had 20 minutes to get ready for work.

"Oh fuck!" I hissed out before quickly getting out of the bed, instantly regretting it when I felt like I was gonna throw up again.

After taking a quick shower and picking a pair of clothes from Reyna's closet I quickly rushed out the room and down the stairs. When I made it into the kitchen I saw both Cole and Lukas.

Lukas was sitting on one of the barstools while eating a piece of bacon. Cole on the other hand was cooking something on the stove... and he was a sight to see.

I couldn't help but watch as his back muscles would tense as he moved. I noticed that there was a faint scar on his back as well.

Damn... why does he have to look this good? This is only making my job harder.

"Well look at who finally decided to wake up this morning." Lukas spoke out, smiling at me. When I looked at him small flashbacks of what happened last night resurfaced in my mind.

"Where's Monica? Is she already at the club?" I asked him before sitting on the barstool next to him. When I mentioned my best friend I noticed how his cheeks were now flushed.

"Um no... she's still asleep at my place." Was all he said.

Cole then turned around with two plates that both had omelettes on them. They smelled so good!

"Holy shit, you can really cook! One day do you think you could teach me?" I asked him as he sat one of the plates in front of me, handing me both a fork and a knife.

When I looked next to me I saw what looked to be a pain pill and a glass a water. Was that always right there?

"Both you and Monica have the day off today. After you're done eating you can get Lukas to take you back home, I have business to take care of." Was all he said before leaving with the other plate as well.

So much for us getting closer... looks like we're back at square one.

A small groan then escaped from Lukas, "I should've known that other omelette wasn't for me..." He pouted. I couldn't help but laugh at how silly he was.

"Do you want some of mine? I'm not too fond with eating a big breakfast in the morning so I can give you a little bit." I told him. He smiled at me before nodding his head.

"You're so sweet, now I know why Monica talks about you so much." He spoke out as I put some of my omelette on another plate for him.

"Speaking of Monica, what happened between you two? You've been acting really weird ever since I mentioned her." I asked him. He began to choke on his drink at my question.

He then looked at me after he was able to calm himself down, "What's going on between Monica and I? There's nothing going on, why would you think that?" He asked me.

Oh so he wants to play that game.

We'll just have to see what Monica has to say about what happened last night.

A few moments later

A few moments later...

After we were done eating, I gave Lukas my address so he could drop me off home. Sadly, I wasn't able to see Cole before I had left.

I honestly don't know what to say about him. He's hard to read. One moment I feel like he's warming up to me, then he starts acting cold again.

"I'm home." I spoke out as I walked into the house, shutting the door behind me. It wasn't too long before  Tanya walked in the room.

"How was the reunion?" She asked after giving me a hug.

"It was quite interesting..." I muttered out.

Gabriel then cleared his throat as he walked in, "I just got off the phone with Xavier. There's a gathering that's gonna be held at the ballroom downtown... he wants me to bring you two with me." He spoke out.

"Oh I can't wait! When is it?" Tanya asked excitedly. I couldn't help but dread the idea of seeing Xavier again. I had nothing but hatred towards that man.

There was a small knot in my stomach at the thought of Cole being there.

Of course he's gonna be there. Xavier is his father...

"It's happening tonight." He stated. Wait what? Who announces an event the day of?

"Do we have to go? I was planning out going somewhere with Monica later on today." I lied.

"Sweetie, this is very important for Gabriel. We all need to be there to support him... plus it would be rude to not show up when Xavier's the one who invited us." Tanya added.

"And you literally just came back home from spending the night with Monica. Why can't you just be here with us for a change?" He asked.

A small sigh escaped from me before I walked up the stairs, to my room. When I made it inside I dropped the bag that had my clothes in it from last night on the ground and plopped on the bed.

"Man... I need to get my own place." I sighed out.

I'm 22 years old and I'll be 23 in a few months. I planned on moving out when I was 18 but both Gabriel and Tanya were so fixated on keeping me here.

All they want is for me to do everything they say. I'm a young adult who's still staying with her adopted parents.

I care for and appreciate them both, I really do. But with everything that I've gone through while growing up, I'll never be able to see them as my true family. I just can't.

"Hello?" Monica spoke out softly when I called her. She sounded like she was exhausted, not that I'm surprised.

I then told her about me planning on moving out tomorrow and expected her to try and talk me out of it, but she agreed with me.

"About time. I was wondering when you were gonna stop letting those two run over you. Hell, I found this nice ass house that's by the strip club. It has like four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and it has this nice ass kitchen." She spoke out.

A small laugh escaped from me as I listened to her, "I can tell that you really thought this through. But I don't have enough money saved for a house Monica."

A small groan came from her, "Don't even get me started on money. Unlike your people, my parents can't wait for me to leave the place. I got the money covered. And before you even argue we can go halfway if you want." I couldn't help but smile at her words.

She knows me so well.

"Alright, deal."
