"What do you mean you won't marry my daughter?!" Douglas asked in anger.

A small sigh escaped from me as I sat back in my chair, "I don't want to get married"

"Are you saying something is wrong with my daughter?!" He asked. I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

"Douglas, you and I both know that's not what I was implying. I've been down that road with Faith and I'm not trying to be tied down right now." I stated.

"Is there someone else?" He then asked.

"Cole that happened years ago! I said that I was sorry... why won't you give me another chance?" Faith butted in.

"You're really doing this right now Faith? You can't be serious," Lukas spoke out, anger written all over his face.

"Lukas that's enough-" I began but he continued.

"I honestly don't give a damn that your father is in the room... the three of us have known each other since the beginning of high school.

You used him that entire time, you knew what you were doing. You didn't give a damn until he found out about it, so you can stop with the crocodile tears." He bluntly stated.

There was a moment of silence after that. Both Faith and her father looked furious but they were lost for words. It wasn't too long before he stood up, Faith following behind.

"This conversation is far from over, I'll be back." Douglas said before the two of them walked out of the door.

"What the hell Lukas? Are you trying to start something between our families?" I asked him just as the door shut.

"I'm just trying to be there for you! That man isn't going to do anything-" He began.

"And how do you know that Lukas? That's the same man that threatened my mother! I could've handled that better." I spat out.

A loud groan came from him as he stood up from his seat, "Why don't we just tell your dad about this then? Maybe he can talk to Douglas again-"

I couldn't help but laugh, "My dad left the two of us in charge. How do you think that's gonna look if I ask for his help over something like declining a fucking marriage proposal?" I asked him.

"This is more than just a marriage proposal and you know it. This is Faith's way of getting back into your life. Her dad doesn't give a damn about who she likes, he's only thinking about the money! From the looks of it, he's not backing down-" He began.

"I don't care. My father doesn't have to know about this. I'm not marrying Faith and that's the end of it. If he wants to bullshit over something like this then that's fine." Lukas opened his mouth to say something but decided to leave the conversation alone.
