We got up quite early, because we were awakened by a strange sound, which later turned out to be the sound of an axe. Beorn regained his human form and cut down a tree right in front of the house. We waited and figured out a plan of what to do until our hobbit camed.

"Bilbo. " Gandalf cried when he saw him. "There you are. "

Baggins looked around not really knowing what was going on, so I quickly explained it to him.

We had to settle the matter gently if we didn't want Beorn to tear us to shreds as he did with the last person who surprised him. Or at least that's what our Wizard said.

"Now... This'll require some delicate handling. We must tread very carefully." Gandalf said and walked over to the door. "I'll go first and... Bilbo? You come with me. " Pointed to hobbit.

"Is this a good idea? " Baggins stuttered.

"Yes. " Wizard replied quickly. "Now, the rest of you, you just wait here... And don't come out until I give the signal. "

"Right. Wait for the signal. " Bofur assured him still frightened, he stood on the windowsill and watched Beorn.

"And no sudden moves or loud noises..." Gandalf said. "And don't overcrowd him. And only come out in pairs. No, actually, Bombur..." He turned to him. "Um, You count as two so you should come out alone. " Added to which the other only nodded. "Remember, wait for the signal. " He reminded and then went outside with our hobbit, and I went to the window sill to Bofur.

After a while, dwarf looked at me, and then at the others.

"What signal would that be? " He asked.

We wanted to ask Gandalf about it, but they had already gone and it was clear that our Wizard was really nervous about talking to Beorn.

"Uum, I have a bad feeling. " I whispered.

"Me too. " Fili supported me.

"Don't worry, brother. " Kili interjected. "The trembling of your knees will scare him away. " He laughed at which blond boy grabbed him by the neck and poked his head, and seeing it only laughed at them.

Gandalf and Bilbo had been talking to Beorn for a good few moments. We were waiting for the signal and getting more and more anxious.

At one point, Wizard waved his hand and Bofur took it as a signal, and later ordered the first pairs to come out. But I stopped them.

"Wait. " I whispered. "Is it surely this signal? " I asked and looked at Bofur and the rest.

"He didn't show another. " Bofur replied.

"Because maybe he didn't even... " I started, but first pairs, i.e. Balin and Dwalin didn't hear us and went outside. "Wait... Ahhh... " I sighed and looked out the window to see what would happen.

Beorn, seeing them, lifted the axe up and it was clear that he was ready to use it at any moment.

Bilbo and Gandalf didn't know what to do. They looked at the dwarves, and later at Beorn again.

"Dwalin and Balin. " Dwarves introduced themselves.

"And I must confess that, several of our group are, in fact... " Wizard began, stuttering in the process. "Dwarves." He finished uncertainly.

"Do you call two 'several'? " Two meters high man hissed

"Well, now you put it that way..." Gandalf exchanged disturbing glances with Baggins. "Yes, there could be more... Than two..." Added, and at that time another pair of dwarves, Oin and Gloin, came out.
