3 Weeks Later
I rubbed my eyes, struggling to feel awake in class.
Our teacher paced around the room as he talked. I looked next to me to see Sam with his head on the desk, definitely asleep.
I looked ahead to see Weston in the same place he always sat, he was doodling in a notebook. Today Olivia was sitting next to him. Our teacher was pacing around, talking about the short films we were all making.
"This film will count as 50 percent of your grade." He said, making Sam open his eyes and look up.
"If they are not up to standard, you and your group will have to retake the year. I will select three of your films to be entered in a local art contest! So don't slack on this!"
I looked over to Weston to see he was looking at me already, and he gave me a face that read "what the fuck." I shrugged back, feeling worried. Our film had been coming out so badly. I was so focused on everything happening in my social life that college work had completely escaped me.
When the bell rang I left with Weston, Sam and Olivia. "We're screwed!" Olivia said, straight away. She was even taller than usual today wearing her platforms. "We... are kinda screwed." Sam agreed.
I looked at Weston, wanting him to say something reassuring.
"Guys, it's fine. I'm gonna make it perfect when I edit. Just trust me." He said. "I'll make it something good."
"...Man, even your editing skills can't fix this mess, Weston." Sam replied. "Dude have some faith!" Weston argued.
When we got near our flat, Sam fist bumped us all goodbye to go back to his place. When we got in Olivia went to her room. Weston and I stood in the kitchen, and it was silent for a second. I opened my mouth to break the silence, and we both started talking at the exact same time.
"Oh sorry, uh," I said.
"No, you go first." He replied."Don't worry. I'm just gonna go to my room." I said, smiling awkwardly before walking to my room and closing the door behind me. I physically shuddered at the awkward interaction.
I took off my jeans, and changed into my comfy shorts and a baby tee, stretching. A bit of alone time would be good for now. I tied my hair half up and sat down at my desk and turning on my desk lamp.
For the next couple of hours I did some work, writing up notes on the script of our film and writing down anything that I think could make it better. I got a text, and checked my phone.
Olivia: Hey me and Isabelle are going out in a bit feel free to join <3
I considered it, then thought I'd prefer just staying in and keeping on doing this work. I felt really worried about failing. I chewed the end of my pencil.
There was a knock on my door. Olivia was probably here to ask me in person about going out. "Come in." I called.
My door opened, and I looked up to see Weston, who came in, sat on my desk next to me and started complaining about how bored he was whilst going through the various stuff on my desk.
"Damn dude you're like a little kid." I told him.
"That's so not even true" He replied, sarcastically. "I just need constant stimulation or I'll throw a tantrum. Totally different.""Well I'm busy." I told him, gesturing to the work on my desk.
He got up and looked at it. "Oh my god you've done so much. You should take a break." Then he started poking around my room and looking at all my posters. "I like your room. I feel like you've never even been in mine." He said.
