It had been three days since we all went to the corn maze, and what happened in there just kept playing over in my head. I couldn't stop thinking about how Weston had held my hand, and I felt like a dumb teenager obsessing over one stupid moment with a guy.I finished eating my dinner, and washed up the plate, before putting it away and leaving the kitchen.
As I was walking to my room, Weston's door suddenly opened and he stuck his head out.
"Anais! Glad I caught you." He came out of his room and walked up to me. "Can I please use your computer? I'm trying to edit the film and mine just won't stop crashing."
"Sure. I'm going out with Olivia and Kalynn in a second," I told him, as we walked into my room together. "You can use it while I'm out, though."
He sat down at my desk and plugged the camera into my computer, loading the footage up. I sat on the desk next to him. "So, how's the editing going?" I asked, kicking my feet.
"It's going okay... Only two weeks until it's due, so, I'm a little stressed about it." He replied, already starting to trim and rearrange the clips. He pushed his glasses up his nose.
"But I mean like, do you think it'll turn out well?" I asked him, hopefully.
He swivelled the chair to look at me, then shrugged. "You'll see, I guess."
My door suddenly opened, and we looked over to see Olivia in the doorway. "Hey, let's g- Oh, sorry to interrupt." She said, awkwardly.
Weston laughed, "You're not interrupting anything, Olivia."
"Anais," Olivia looked me up and down. "You're not going out dressed like that, are you?"
"What's wrong with how I'm dressed?" I said, offended.
"Don't you wanna impress the cute boys at the bar?" Olivia asked me. Weston looked back to the computer screen and kept editing.
"Well, can I borrow something of yours, then?" I asked her, and she nodded, leaving my room.
I turned to Weston and ruffled his hair, like he always does to me. He slapped my hand away like I usually do to him. "That's my thing," He said. "Get your own thing, Anais."
"See you later," I said, walking out. "Don't go through my stuff or I'll kill you."I ran into Kalynn in the hallway when I left my room. She looked pretty, wearing a little crop top and denim shorts. "We're gonna go in 5 minutes so hurry up and get ready." She told me as she passed me.
I walked into Olivia's room, and she was digging through her stuff. She pulled out a faded purple dress and chucked it over to me.
"Jeez, don't you own anything that isn't purple?" I said as I pulled off my hoodie and jeans, then putting the dress on over my head.
"I know what colour works for me, okay?" Olivia said, packing some stuff into a handbag. "And you look nice in that so, you're welcome."
I looked into Olivia's full length mirror. I looked okay. I didn't love my appearance, but I was less insecure now than when I was sixteen, that's for sure. Getting older I realised not to obsess over my flaws and pick at everything about my body. "Let's go." I said, and we walked out.
Olivia, Kalynn and I all walked together down the street towards the bar.
"We're meeting Isabelle there, by the way!" Olivia exclaimed happily. Kalynn and I glanced at each-other, and I knew we were both thinking of how Isabelle had looked awfully close with Toby the other day.
"So, uh.." Kalynn started. "...How are things going with her, are you guys pretty serious or something?"
Olivia blushed. "Yeah, I think so. I really like her, she's adorable."
