"How have you been, since, you know... have you been doing any better?" I asked Olivia.
"A little better recently, I guess."
"I really am sorry, for not telling you, about Isabelle and Weston."

She sighed, twirling the straw around in her drink. "I shouldn't have been as angry at you as I was. You should have told me she cheated but, but Weston's the one who actually messed up."

"Are you still angry with him?" I asked.
"I'm not gonna hold him to that anymore Anais, it's all in the past. I know he wouldn't do that now."
"I really don't think he would."
"Besides," She said. "It must have bothered you too, knowing they hooked up. I know you had a thing for him. Have a thing for him?"

The two of us had gone out to the bar across the other side of town for a drink and a talk, although all I was having to drink was lemonade, since I'd decided to quit drinking alcohol for a while. It hadn't been responsible, sustainable or healthy how much i'd been drinking, if I really sat down and thought about it. I wanted things to change, and I didn't want to be a mess anymore.

"It... yeah, it bothered me then but like, it's not a big deal anymore." I replied.

"How are things between you two now?" She asked. "I feel bad, when I was mad at you guys and I saw you together, I was rude. I hope I didn't make things weird between you two or like... ruin it."

"Actually, things are going well I think. I think he could be into me." I smiled and looked away, thinking about sleeping in his room last night.

That morning I'd opened my eyes, disoriented for a moment about where I was. I'd sat up in Weston's bed and started to yawn, before I'd felt his arms wrap around me and pull me back down next to him. He had groaned as he tossed and turned, still asleep, pushing his face into my neck. The butterflies came rushing back at the thought of it.

"No fucking way." Olivia said, and I realised she wasn't reacting to what i'd said. I followed her gaze across the room to see where she was looking. I followed her gaze to the bar, where Isabelle and a girl were talking and ordering a drink.

"Oh god, I haven't seen her since... since the breakup." Olivia said, mortified and defeated. "Who's she with?"

I glanced back over to Isabelle, who was laughing, tucking her blonde hair behind her ears. The girl with her hadn't been familiar, but now I looked at her I recognised her immediately from the first party I'd been to at college as Toby's girlfriend. The memory of her pouring her vodka lemonade over my hair and eyes came back to the forefront of my mind. The other thought that crossed my mind in that moment was new - I'd never noticed how gorgeous she was. Her thick curls, ash blond, were cut no longer than the nape of her neck, highlighting her defined jaw and slim neck. Everything about her was slim.

Toby appeared from nearby then, slinging his arm over her shoulder. So they were still together.

"Do you wanna go?" I asked Olivia. "Maybe we should go."

My phone buzzed and I looked down for a second to read the text.

Weston: hi how was ur day? :)

I decided to reply in a minute, looking back up at Olivia to gauge her emotional state at seeing her ex girlfriend.

"I can't believe Toby is still with that girl! She said, her eyes fixed on the three of them. "I bet she doesn't even know about him and Isabelle, what the hell."

I looked at them all, laughing together, and concluded that "yeah, you're probably right. Those girls look pretty close. Unless they're in a throuple or something." I laughed, but I looked back at Olivia and she wasn't laughing. Infact, she was getting up off of her seat.
