- Weston - Yesterday morning -
When I woke up, the first thing I felt was the drool on the side of my face. I mumbled something, wiping my face and opening my eyes. My eyes, they hurt so much.
"Weston?"
Anais was stood in my bedroom doorway, wearing some oversized hoodie and slouchy socks. Her long dark hair was in two braids that were clearly slept in. She always looked like that, first thing in the morning.
"Huh?" I replied, sitting up and rubbing my eyes under my glasses. "Anais." I stretched, still feeling half asleep. "You'alright Anais...?"
"Did you stay up all night editing the project again?" She asked me, as if she was an angry mom.
"Yes?" I replied, pressing my hand to my forehead as the headache settled in. "How long until it's due?" I managed to get out through the pain that made me wanna fall asleep again."Three hours." she replied, and before I could say anything else she disappeared into the hallway to go get coffee or something.
God, I couldn't believe the project was gonna be shown today infront of everyone. I'd only just finished it before passing out. Was it a bad idea turning it into a comedy type of thing? It's better for people to laugh with us than at us, but I had no idea if anyone else in our friend group was gonna see it that way. I'd have warned everyone if Anais and I weren't shut out of the group because of my stupid mistakes. I missed Sam the most, having a guy to hang out with was so much fun when I'd grown up as Kalynn as my best friend.
I scratched my stomach, sighing adn getting up, before just collapsing into bed. Three hours until class. Running on three hours of sleep would beat running on virtually none. I faced the wall and curled up under the cover, wishing I was warmer.
A few minutes later I was woken up by a knock on my door.
"No!" I called out to them, hoping they would just let me sleep. 'Of course not', I thought as the door opened and I felt their weight sit on the bed next to me."I got you painkillers." she said quietly, and I propped myself up on the bed to see her smiling at me through the darkness. She'd bought me painkillers and water.
"Oh hey, thanks mind-reader." I said, unable to be annoyed anymore as I took them from her.I felt her eyes on me as I leaned my head back, downing the whole glass of icy water. I could have easily downed three more. I put the glass down, looking at her, and her eyes darted away like they always do.
"I always wonder," I said, wiping my mouth. "What you're thinking when you do that."
"What?" She replied. "Like what?"
"You look at me like you want to kill me. I'm just curious." I said.
"Well I'm planning a really brutal murder." She said, standing up. "Unnecessarily violent. You'll never see it coming." She added when she left the room. I collapsed back down into bed and let myself slip into sleep.
When I woke up, I put on my favourite jeans, an oversized sweater and some converse. I looked in the mirror and adjusted my hair before I left my room and checked my phone.
Kalynn: Tell me honestly, are we failing today?I typed a response.
Weston: I actually cut you out the entire thing so it looks like you're the only one who didn't do any work.
Kalynn: I will actually kill you.I saw Anais come out of her room, still shoving her keys and sweater into her backpack. I smirked at the sight of her all flustered and struggling.
"Let's go!" She said, and we walked to class together.
