Taking Nothing (Phoenix Wright x Wife! Reader)

Your Pov:

I sighed as I walked into the office and shut the door. I had just dropped Trucy off at the Wonder Bar for her show. Phoenix was in his office, buried in his work surprisingly enough. Apollo and Athena sat at their desks, working on their own things. I smiled at them before walking into Phoenix's office and shutting the door.

He sat hunched over at his desk, reading something. I walked over and put my hands on his shoulders, gently massaging them. "You've been in here all day. Take a break." He moved away from my hands. "I'm fine, (Y/n)." I huffed. "Really? Even Apollo knows that's not a valid excuse anymore." I looked across his desk and that's when I noticed the "grape juice".

I frowned. "And you're drinking again. This isn't good for you. Is this the example you want to set for Apollo and Athena? For Trucy?" He barely looked at me. "Maybe if you'd stop bothering me, then we wouldn't be having this conversation." I swallowed. "So me caring about you bothers you? Fine. Have fun being by yourself." He tried to speak, but I ignored him.

I walked into the main office and looked at Apollo and Athena. "You two can go home for the day." After that, I went into the bedroom and started packing my suitcase. I knew Phoenix was waiting for me to cry or scream so that he could apologize, but I wasn't going to give him the chance. Once I was done packing, I grabbed my keys and went to my car. I put the suitcase in the trunk and started the drive back to the Wonder Bar.

As I pulled up to the front of the building, Trucy came out and got into the car. I smiled. "How did the show go?" She smiled back. "It was great! Vera came tonight." The rest of the ride was comfortably silent. Once we got back to the office, I led Trucy inside. "Pack a bag with a few days worth of clothes and things you'll need then go back to the car. We're having...a sleepover at Ms. Von Karma's tonight."

Trucy nodded. "Alright!" She quickly packed her things and went back out to the car. The door to Phoenix's office opened and he stepped out.

"You can't take Trucy."

I crossed my arms over my chest. "And why not? You said you don't need anyone to care for you, so I'm not going to leave Trucy to try to convince you." He huffed. "She needs her father. And I have sole custody of her." I laughed dryly. "Sole custody? Do you have amnesia? You never officially adopted her until I married you. Because of your blemished record, you couldn't. And yes, she was adopted under the name 'Trucy Wright' because I was married to you. But in the end, you have nothing to hold on Trucy."

I tilted my head. "You can try and take me to court, but I have more than enough to make a solid case and today proved it. So try me, Phoenix. Just try me."

He fell silent and I walked towards the door. "Call me when you come to your senses." With that, I opened the door and walked out, not looking back once.

I didn't deserve to be treated this way and neither did Trucy.
