"Jay babe, i'm home."

You called as you walked into your shared apartment. You had just gotten off of work for the week and ran quickly to the store to grab some food for tonight.

You wanted to surprise Jay with dinner. Ever since the last visit to the doctor, he's been depressed.

It's been one week since you received the news of him having cancer.

And ever since the depression you've been eating him up. There is a big probability that he doesn't have much time to live.

He try's to hide it but you can see through
the act.

You see his face fall when he thinks
no one's watching.

You see him smile, but it never reaches his eyes anymore.

It's as if all the happiness has been sucked out of him and he's slowły fading away, and you feel as if there's nothing you can do to help.

You sigh as you set the groceries on
the counter and unload them into the
refrigerator.

You headed upstairs to change out of your
tight work clothes.

As you headed upstairs you could hear the shower running.

As you approached your room you slowly opened the door not wanting to accidentally see a naked Jay.

You shook those thoughts out of your head
and made your way inside the room.

The door to the bathroom was shut and you hear the water running.

You quickly change into leggings and one of Jay shirts. You walk over to the bathroom door, and knock.

"Jay?" You call softly. When you don't get a response you open the door slightly and peek into the room.

The curtain to the shower isn't pulled back all the way and through the space you can see him.

Your eyes widen and your heart breaks. There he is standing there head in hands, and you can hear the soft sobs escaping his lips.

Frozen in spot, you don't know what to do.

There he was shedding tears- like scarlet water drawing down from him.

"Jay honey, I'm home." You call to him
making sure he hears you.

"O-okay !'ll be right out." He says and your
heart breaks into even more pieces after you hear his voice break. You walk over to the bed and lay down on top and go through your phone while waiting for him to come out.

You hear the bathroom door open and you
glance up at Jay. He's wearing nothing but
a towel around his waist. He quickly turns
away not wanting you to see his face. Too
late.

You saw his red puffy eyes and his tear
stained cheeks. Your heart was taking it hard today.

You stood up quietly and walked over
to him. You rested your hand on his cheek and turned his to face you. "Jay, it's okay." You look at him with a small smile.

He stares at you with a blank face when all
of a sudden he wraps his arms around you.
You wrap yours around him and nuzzle your
nose against his neck. You feel small drops of water hit your shoulder.

"Oh baby, you are okay." You say and kiss his neck. You pull away just enough so you can wipe his tears away he stares at the ground.

"Jay, you're going to be okay, I love you.
And if you ever need anyone I am right here, your family is here. We won't leave you"

He nodded, trying to hide the pain.

"Now" You said with a smirk and wrapped
your arms around his neck."I have a surprise for you. It's downstairs so when you're ready come down."

"What if I said that I really just want to lay
in bed all night and hold you." He said and
gently grabbed you by the hips and pulled
you to his chest. Your heart practically
exploded. You rested your forehead against his.

"Come downstairs and if you don't want anything then I'll just eat it up here and you can hold me for as long as you want to. I am certainly not complaining," You said, trying to smile more for him.

Jay nodded his head in confirmation.

That was a good sign. You walked over to the table and grabbed a plate then walked over to the oven, grabbed a shell and put some meat on it.

You heard him come down the stairs. He grabbed his plate from the table and walked over to you.

He waited patiently for you to finish yours and then he began. You walked over to the table smiling, and poured yourself a glass of wine. Jay joined you at the table.

"I know what you're trying to do, Y/n."

"And what is that?" You said trying to play it
off as if you have no idea what he's talking
about.

Jay looked at you with a serious face.

Looking down at you. You sigh and close your eyes. "I'm just trying to get your mind off of things."

"I know baby, you just have to give me time." He said, trying to reassure you.

"I just feel like there's nothing I can do." You
say covering your eye's with your hands. You don't want to cry. You have to be strong for him.

But it's so hard to see someone that
you care so much about being in pain, while there is nothing you can do.

"Hey baby don't cry" He says and takes your hands off your face and replaces them with his.

"Y/n, just you being here for me helps me."

You look at him and smile."The only thing that you need to do is promise me that you'll never leave."

"Trust me I don't ever plan on leaving you"

"Jay as long as I'm alive, I will never leave you, until death do us apart"

"Until death do us apart"

Dying is a messy and often painful process, living as we do in world that is yet to embrace euthanasia.
