I had grown up in the Dark Moon Pack and had worked alongside him for several years. experiencing many events that he himself had witnessed.

So I felt foolish as I stared into his eyes attempting to comprehend his question. I didn't know how to answer, other than to state my name and background. Which he already knew.

If he was referring to my bloodline, he was aware that I came from a rogue, a fact that brought shame to my name.

As for my scent it was impossible for him to detect it just now, especially since I was always in close proximity to him. Another thing it was highly unlikely for him to perceive it as strong.

I was merely a lowly omega, wolfless and with no hope of ever obtaining one.

I found myself shaking my head and stammering, "M-Me?" Clutching the bundle of papers tightly to my chest, I squeezed my legs together. summoning the strength to remain standing.

I tried to quell the fear that now consumed me, my toes curling inside my shoes. I took a deep breath, waiting anxiously for his next move.

As I listened to the sound of his knuckles, it felt as though he was prepared to unleash his claws upon a frightened little mouse, it's me.

I tightened my grip on the papers, bracing myself. Then his words startled me, "Tomorrow, you will turn 21. If you remain without a wolf, I will have no choice but to send you back to Alpha Luke of the Litha Moon Pack."

My heart pounded in my chest, and a gasp escaped my lips.

I couldn't help but raise my head, meeting his gaze directly. The Litha Moon Pack was known for its ruthless Alpha, and the omegas there were rarely granted the freedom to live their lives as they wished. Their bodies were considered the sole property of their Alpha.

My aunt had sold me to that pack, but fortunately, my current Alpha had intervened and saved me by purchasing me from Alpha Luke, which is him.

But now he told me, "It's part of our agreement. This is your last chance. If you don't shift on your 21st birthday, you'll have to go back to him and serve him until the end."

No! I couldn't bear that.

I didn't want to return to that terrible pack. I'd rather stay here with him and serve him than endure that fate.

My legs shook with fear as I cautiously approached him. I wanted to hold his hand and beg, but he had a rule against it, especially in the workplace. So, I pleaded, my voice shaky, "I'll do anything, Alpha—no need for payment. I'll work for you—"

He cut me off, saying, "But your scent is strong. There's an energy radiating from you that I can't explain."

What energy?

I had no idea, and I didn't feel particularly strong. But then he surprised me by adding, "Tonight, at midnight, you'll go through the shift. Right under the moonlight."

I was shocked. How did he know it was time for me to shift?

It was good news, but my smile faded when he continued, "You won't be going back to the Litha Moon Pack. But depending on how your shift goes, I might see you as an ally or an enemy. Your mother might be betraying me, and your father is definitely not an ordinary rogue. Now, get leave this room."

It felt like his words hit me, even though I was a few steps away. I wanted to ask more questions, but I didn't want to provoke his anger. I didn't want to lose my life.

I quickly bowed and turned to leave, but he stopped me by dropping something—his nameplate—on the desk.

He spoke again, "I still forgive you for sleeping on the job, but if you do it again, I'll send you to the worst pack and let them harm you. Don't tarnish the reputation of my company. Come back here in six hours and make sure all the papers are all set!"
