Now let the story begin.

Kazuma : Jeez [Y/N], what has you in such a bad mood?

Megumin : Yeah, you haven't been yourself since we ran into that guy in town, wasn't he an old friend of yours?

[Y/N] is an infamous thief who joined Kazuma and his group on their quest to defeat the Devil King.

[Y/N] scoffed.

[Y/N] : That treacherous scumbag is no friend of mine, not after what he did.

Darkness : What did he do?

[Y/N] sighed.

[Y/N] : It's a long story.

Megumin : I wanna hear it! Your stories are always so exciting and awesome [Y/N]!

Aqua : Yeah! As your goddess, I demand you tell us.

[Y/N] : Ok then. If my beautiful goddess demands it, who am I to refuse?

He winks at Aqua, causing her to blush.

[Y/N] : Before I became a thief, I used to be an adventurer. That man you all met was [P/N], my former partner. We were asked to slay some monster that's been holding the daughter of some rich noble hostage. [P/N] refused to lay a hand on the monster, which I thought nothing of at the time, so I slayed the monster as was requested of me. The monster turned out to be the girl's pet, who then had her father label me a criminal and put a bounty on my head. [P/N] watched the town constable take me away with a smirk on his face. I managed to break out of prison, and have been living on the run every since. I decided that since everyone in the kingdom sees me as a criminal now, I might as well become one. I became a thief, but I only ever stole from the rich and corrupt. I later found out that [P/N] and the man who hired us to kill the monster had been conspiring to have me arrested all along. [P/N] wanted me gone so he could have all the money adventurers receive from quests with me out of the picture, and the man helped him as revenge for me getting a friend of his jailed for a failed assassination attempt. Now do you all understand why I'm in a bad mood after running into that backstabbing jerk today?

Everyone looks at him in shock.

Darkness : My goodness [Y/N], what they did to you was completely awful.

Megumin : I say we go back to town and rough [P/N] up for what he did to you, i'd love to use my explosion spells on him!

[Y/N] : Calm down Meg, he's not worth it. Just forget it guys, all that's in the past now.

Aqua : How can you say that [Y/N]?! That ingrate ruined your life, so how can you just tell us to forget about it?!

[Y/N] looked at everyone and just smiled.

[Y/N] : A wise man once said "yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift, that's why they call it the present". What happened to me back then doesn't matter anymore, sure I still hate [P/N] for what he did, but I probably wouldn't have met all of you if it didn't happen.

Kazuma throws his arm around [Y/N] and smiles.

Kazuma : That's a nice way of looking at things, we're all happy to have met you too [Y/N], especially Aqua.

Aqua blushes.

Aqua : I...don't have the slightest idea what you mean Kazuma! I'm not in love with [Y/N], don't be silly!

Everyone deadpans at how bad a liar Aqua is.

Kazuma : I never said anything about being in love with him, you just outed yourself there Aqua.

Darkness : Indeed, she did.

Megumin : Aww, you love [Y/N], that's awesome! You two make a great couple!

Aqua and [Y/N] look at each other and blush.

[Y/N] : You're in love with me Aqua?

Aqua : No! .....Maybe?! ....... Yes.

She sighs.

Aqua : I admit it [Y/N], I'm in love with you. I have been ever since you joined our group and saved me from that pack of monsters. I have deemed you worthy of this goddess' love [Y/N], and I want you as my beloved partner. So, what do you accept?

He chuckles softly at Aqua's confession and grabs her hand, kissing it gently.

[Y/N] : I love you too Aqua, and I accept your confession. Never in my wildest dreams would I imagine a goddess confessing her love for a thief, but I guess stranger things have happened.

She laughs and kisses his cheek.

Aqua : Oh, but you aren't just any thief [Y/N], you are my thief.

She grabs his hand, dragging him back towards town.

Kazuma : Where are you taking him Aqua?

Aqua : To the tavern, we are going to celebrate our newly formed relationship with a drink...or two...or three.

Kazuma : Wait, where would you get the money for all those drinks? I'm certainly not giving it to you, Ms. Goddess of Debt.

Aqua pouts, but [Y/N] smirks and pulls out a sachet full of eris.

Kazuma : Hey! Where did you get that?!

[Y/N] : Your pocket, I am a master thief after all.

[Y/N] playfully bows and runs off with Aqua to the tavern, leaving Kazuma both flabbergasted and frustrated.

Kazuma : Those two really are perfect for each other, because they are both huge pains in my neck.

Megumin and Darkness laugh.

Darkness : We really should go after them though.

Megumin : Yeah, we don't need to be dealing with two drunks, Aqua is bad enough on her own.

Kazuma nods and they all rush to the town's tavern, where they see the happy couple sharing a large mug of mead.
