"Send me the product details, Mr Berner," I spoke.

"Yes, sir." I heard from my side.

"Also, we don't have much time for the product launch. The product proposal launch has to be announced at Chris' party." He hesitated to speak but eventually did.

"But sir, Mr Hudson's party is on the day after tomorrow." He stammered.

"Yes?" I didn't get his point.

"But it would be too soon, sir. I don't think we could make it in time." He suggested and I stopped walking. He mirrored me.

"Mr Berner, we are only left with the final review. As far as I know, it doesn't take much time if we put in all our efforts. So, announce the product launch at Chris' party. It will be an advantage for us to discuss with investors in the party later." I continued and he nodded his head in understanding.

"Yes, sir." I gave him a final nod before walking away.

I entered the elevator, pressed my office floor, and waited for the doors to close.

The doors opened and I walked towards my office after nodding to the series of greetings I got from my employees.

When my eyes fell on Lauren, I stopped in my tracks.

She is sitting in her cubicle staring ahead, probably thinking something.

I haven't seen her since morning, I had important work so I left early from home. And last night she didn't talk much but just answered my questions monotonously.

Last night, I almost ripped my hair thinking if I did something wrong for her to act that way. but she just brushed it off saying she is having a headache.

She even left early to her room last night without watching any movie, which has been our routine recently.

It would be a lie if I said that didn't disappoint me.

I started watching movies just to spend a bit more time with her.

Bringing myself out of my thoughts and walking towards her, I cleared my throat.

When she turned her eyes towards me, I gave her one of my charming smiles.

She looked beautiful as ever, but today her usual exciting and mischievous glint in her eyes was missed. Instead, her eyes are speaking of uncertainty and confusion.

"You are here." She gave me a small smile and I sat in front of her.

"Well, speak." I began.

I want to know what is that, that keeps bugging her mind.

She just frowned at me and turned her face away.

"What?" she mirrored my expression.

"Do you have something to say?" I questioned.

She shrugged her shoulders and my eyes fell from her face to her pen where she tightened her hold on it.

"Anything?" I continued.

She stared at me blinking and thinking hard at the same time.

If the situation isn't this serious, I would have made fun of her. she looked hilarious for a moment with her blinking-eyes face looking so lost.

"I- I I- just-" she stuttered and I tried hard to understand what she was saying.

I took her hand on the desk in mine and wrapped my fingers around her soft hand.
