Sarah announced the big dinner once the two friends had made up.
"I'm sorry for teasing, okay? And for telling Reid." Sarah had been begging Yara to forgive her all damn afternoon since their walk in the morning.
Yara sighs, annoyed. "Fine. I forgive you. Just shut up, please."
"Done!" Sarah hugs her, and Yara grudgingly hugs her back.
"Ooh, by the way, we're having a fancy dinner tonight. My mum wanted to do something for all the guests from the camp, so it'll be us, Reid and his gang, and a few other important people. I'll help you dress up, okay?"
Yara gulped. She knew it was going to be weird seeing Lucas again after her talk with her mum.
That reminded her, she better tell Sarah about it.
"Yeah, sure. I'll meet you in your room at four?"
"Sounds perfect." Sarah squeals.
They're sitting in the café for lunch, and Yara stabs at her spicy chicken salad.
"Why aren't you eating?" Sarah murmurs through her mouthful of sandwich.
Yara sighs, putting down her fork. "I need to tell you what happened today."
"Oh my gosh, you fvcked Lucas?" Sarah squeals, louder than necessary. People turn heads but luckily Lucas and his friends weren't in the café.
Yara's eyes widen. "Keep your voice down! And no, I did not fvck Lucas. Don't be stupid."
Sarah deflates. "Aw. I was rooting for you."
"Sarah! Cut it out. If I do fvck him, don't you think I would have told you as soon as I was done?"
"If? Or when?" She grins.
Yara massages her temple. "Why am I friends with you?"
"I don't know. I ask myself that everyday." She giggles. "Okay, but what is it?"
"For real?"
"For real. What is the actual thing." Sarah nods.
"My mother called."
"Ooh! How is she?"
Yara glares at Sarah and she looks down. "Sorry. Carry on."
"She told me that even though the Finnegan's are our competition I don't have to hate Lucas."
"Your mum gets it." Sarah smiles. "She understands."
"She said she sees the papers on him too. And me. She thinks it's fine. And she even called him good looking."
"Aw, that's good, now you-" Sarah stops and frowns, narrowing her eyes at Yara. "Wait a second. How did the subject of Lucas come up?"
"I-" Yara focuses her attention on Sarah's suspicious gaze.
"You asked, didn't you?"
"Yeah." Yara says, quiet.
"Well, you should listen. Mother knows best, and she probably knows what she's talking about." Sarah concludes.
"Yeah. I guess. Maybe I don't have to hate Lucas? But I do, though. I can't help it. He's so dislikeable." Yara whines.
"That's not what the two girls his mother found in his bed thought." Sarah grins.
Yara's eyes widen. "What-"
"Relax, it happened a few months ago. Before he saw you again, up close, and was blown away again."
