Arthur Leywin POV

"Nice ta meetcha pup, name's... name's..." The figure began to introduce themselves before being forced to hold their stomach as laughter erupted from him once more.

As he balled, I lifted myself off the ground as I continued to stare deadpan at him, not finding the situation the least bit amusing.

"Oh lighten up, grumpy." Tessia transmitted to me. Looking at her, she gave me a coy smile as Sylvie sat atop her gunmetal hair, watching on in amusement.

A sudden slap brought our attention back to the lanky figure, as the horned girl stood behind him, her arm raised as he winced from the hit to the back of the head and cutting his laughter short.

"Feisty as ever you sexy de-" A second slap, even harder than the first struck him as he recoiled. "Ok, I deserved that one."

"Quiet down for just a moment you clown." The girl huffed before a smile returned to her features as she turned to me and Tess. "My name's Caera Denoir, this all-too spiffy looking guy behind me is my adoptive brother, Sevren."

Before I had the chance to introduce myself, our ball of fluff lunged at the girl who I now knew as Caera. Her expression turned momentarily to shock before smiling, catching Sylvie in her arms and giving her a few pats.

"Already acquainted?" Tessia asked suspiciously, her head cocked slightly to the right.

"Ah- I met Sylvie once during a visit to Taegrin Caelum alongside my mentor a while back." Caera clarified. "We had the chance to talk a little bit, in which she made it very clear how much she looks up to both of you."

I couldn't help but crack a smile at this, and neither could Tess. Sylvie shifted back to her human form before bringing us both into a deep hug as a few wet spots began to form on my shirt.

"I-I'm gonna miss you both..." She moaned as tears cascaded down her face, her golden eyes now becoming redder by the minute.

"So are we, but we'll come back soon." Tessia spoke into her ear in a soft tone as she held her emotions back.

"And once we do, we take back what is ours." I caressed her face lovingly before planting a kiss on her forehead. She gave us an enthusiastic nod before running off to Cadell's side.

"AHEM" That same lanky individual caught our attention once more as he stood there with one hand to his mouth and another to his hip, looking slightly offended. "Would you mind if I finish my introduction now?"

"Are you gonna keep being snarky?" Sevren raised his voice for the first time. He sounded calm and collected as he rhetorically questioned the man. Mr. Lanky Man huffed, making a gesture with his hands that screamed "Yes, dad!" before locking eyes with me.

"The name's Uto. Uto Vritra. Esteemed student ta THE Scythe Dragoth Vritra. Unrivaled in his field. Conqueror of all wom-" He was promptly cut off as Sevren picked him up by the scruff of his neck like a cat.

"SEVREN YA THICK HEADED TWAT PUT ME DOWN" Uto squirmed whilst being dangled. I couldn't help but laugh at the sight, and it looks like I wasn't the only one.

"Then shut your trap." He was promptly dropped to the floor before Sevren turned to us. "As my sister said, I'm Sevren. Now shall we?"

He motioned towards the portal located at the back of the room. The five of us stepped forward as we were given a medallion each. According to Agrona, these were necessary for ascenders to not lose each other within the tombs.

"You have all been taught and trained by the best. It now falls on your shoulders to dive into these tombs, and emerge, not as survivors, but as conquerors." Cadells rough voice boomed throughout the room. "May you all emerge a step ahead then what you leave as... And Arthur..."

He turned his bunky form to me, slowly approaching with his crimson eyes locked on mine.

"May you emerge a god capable of shattering the very definition of treason itself."

"Take care of my family for me." I gave him a confident smile, taking his hand into a firm handshake. He nodded before stepping back and allowing us entrance to the portal.

"The very skies will learn the meaning of fear, for you shall become its harbinger." Cadell spoke finally as we stepped into the light of the portal and a vast new environment opened itself to us.

"Let's get moving."

Kai Crestless POV

"Magnificent, isn't it?" Fathers prideful voice made itself known as he entered the large underground space.

Engineers, welders, artificers and overseers flocked around in herds busy at work, the noise of metal clanging, spells being cast and chatter was inescapable.

Before us stood the pinnacle of modern sciences, a true peak in the collective genius of our families efforts over the many years. It wasn't until our successful taking of the council's seats that father actually allowed me to view the device with my own eyes, allowing me only to help with organization prior to this.

A glistening yet inactive gem remained fixed in mid-air within a see-through diamond shaped capsule. From each point of the diamond protruded a metallic rod which grew in width as its length went further from the center. All of this within a tesla coiling field as it propagated along the walls of the exterior frame.

"It really is, father." I managed to pry my eyes from the device to look at my father. "How long until it is applicable?"

"Mere days child, yet we do not need it yet, as you already know." His grin never faltered, eyes shimmering with pure delight and hunger.

I nodded in agreement. For this was not enough. Elenoir alone was not enough. We must conquer all, for it is our noble purpose.

"Come, boy. A meeting with those creatures we call the council awaits." He turned on his heel whilst speaking over the shoulder, ushering me along.

"Do you need me to attend the meeting with you, father?" I questioned. He gave a quick nod.

"Your uncle has fallen ill. The news is grim, but we have our best healers doing our best to improve his condition." He paused for a moment, slowing his pace and looking to his feet. "Yet I fear circumstance will lead to desperation, and to action. For as long as he is sick, we must keep him away from all developments. Understood?"

"Understood, father."

Hello everyone, it's been a hot minute huh?

As promised, the book isn't dead, just... Slow, I suppose. Life is a busy thing, and the uni workload is quite the formidable opponent I must say.

Firstly, community input time! I'm quite open to making Sevren a completely different character then what we see him as in the novel (I mean, I've already changed him physically a fair bit). So, I'd like to hear from you guys. Ideas, thoughts, potential, relationships, etc. All and any ideas Sevren Denoir!

Secondly, Q&A! I feel like I sorta owe it to you guys to find out what's going on with me and the book, so feel free to ask whatever you like!

I'll try my best to also become more active in discord again within the community as well.

Thanks for reading,

Duck, out.
