(3rd Person POV)

M&M were stuck in a makeshift timeout. There were two signs in front of the two which read: I went into Cutthroat Valley and Last. Mania was trying her hardest not to nod off due to her exhaustion. Everyone else was gathered in front of Kalego,

"I will now announce your ranks." He lifted his elbow up as an owl flew in from seemingly nowhere and landed on his arm,

"This is a Rank Owl. He was watching and examining your every move." He set the owl down,

"If you put your hand into the pocket on his belly, he'll give you your rank badge. Like this." Kalego then put his hand into the pocket on the owl before pulling out a badge. Everyone watched with amazed gasps and wide eyes. Kalego then turned to address Mania and Mondo,

"You filth who came in last will be last to get ranked, as well." He told them. Mondo just scoffed and rolled his eyes. Kiyotaka then approached the duo and crossed this arms,

"Let this be a valuable lesson about ignoring instructions, you two." He scolded them. Mondo flipped off Kiyotaka annoyed as he walked back to the group,

"Alright. Line up in single file." Kalego told the class,

"Yes sir!" The class replied. Mondo grimaced angrily,

"This is fuckin humiliating..." he muttered before looking at Mania. Her eyes were closed and she looked... peaceful?

"Are... are you fucking sleeping??" Mondo asked in a whisper, poking Mania. She opened one eye and glared at Mondo,

"Yes. Let me sleep."

"They're giving out our damn ranks, you can't sleep now!" Mondo whispered, dumbfounded at Mania's lack of care,

"Then just wake me up when it's our turn." Mania groaned, closing her eyes again. Mondo defeatedly slumped and just let her rest. It wasn't like he wasn't already aware of how tired Mania was. While Mania slept, Mondo's mind wandered,

"I s'pose Mania ain't that bad company. Normally I'm a shouting moron when talkin to chicks. Heh, she's like a mini-me." As he looked at Mania with a bit of amusement, Gonta suddenly approached him,

"Oh! Does Mondo want to be friends with friend Mania too?" Mondo flinched before looking up at Gonta confused,

"Friends?" He questioned. Gonta nodded excitedly,

"New word friend Mania told Gonta! Means person Gonta likes to hang out with!" He happily told Mondo,

"Uh huh..." Mondo nodded. It was strange though. He could've sworn he's heard that word before, but from where?

"Yeah... I dunno about that yet." He told Gonta. Gonta nodded understanding,

"Gonta hopes Mondo be friend!" Was all he said before returning to the class. Mondo just hummed in reply before letting his mind wander again.

"It's your turn, filth." Kalego sneered, catching Mondo by surprise. He noticed that everyone else had their ranks, leaving only himself and Mania. He jabbed her in the arm a little,

"Oi. It's our turn." He said. Mania didn't even stir. Mondo stared at her silently before standing up. He then suddenly lifted Mania up and hauled her over his shoulder. That sure woke her up,

"Wha- what the!? Put me down!!" She demanded,

"Nope. You told me to wake you up when it was our turn." Mondo replied with an amused chuckle. He carried Mania over to the Rank Owl before setting her down. While Mania fully woke herself up, Mondo stuck his hand into the owl's pocket and pulled out his rank: "Gimel".
