CHAPTER 93

Maddison's POV
I'm home and currently in our study room. Busy reviewing a case that I accept last week. Sobrang laki ng adjustments ko this past few weeks. Lahat kasi ng problema sa law firm sa akin ang bagsak which stressing me out. Hay! If only Edward is here, hindi sana ako nahihirapan ng ganto.

I was about to turn my working papers into the next page but my phone ring. I checked the caller's name and it's Lizzy so remove my reading glass and lean my back before answering her call.

*On Call

Maddison: Yes anak?

Imee: Mom, are you free? Let's have lunch naman.

Maddison: Lunch? What do you mean lunch? As in today? (Sit properly)

Imee: Yes po.

Maddison: I thought you are---Oh anyway, okay. Thank you inviting me coz to be honest I'm really exhausted right now. I-I need someone to talk din. Someone who's really madaldal and funny at the same time (then smile weakly)

Imee: Funny? Madaldal? Mukhang hindi ata ako ang gusto mong kasama mommy eh.

Maddison: Yung Lizzy na alagang Roderick ang gusto kong makasama, anak.

After telling those words, I laugh secretly. Well, enough for her para hindi niya malaman o marinig from the other line. Second had pass, I heard she breathe deeply. Hayst! Feeling ko tinatamad na naman makipag-usap 'to so I've decided to speak up again.

Maddison: Nasa'n ka na ba kayo? Are you guys on your way palang or nandito na kayo?

Imee: Still on my way, mom...Pero malapit na po ako.

Maddison: Oh okay. You take care ha? Love you.

Imee: Thanks, mom.

Maddison: Anong thank you ka jan? I said --(Didn't continue her words coz Imee speak up)

Imee: Mom, I'll hang up na po. See you in a minute po. Sa fav resto mo po, okay?

Maddison: Okay. Bye

To be honest, I am smiling when I said "Bye" coz I was hoping na she'll say "Goodbye, mom" but she didn't. Lokong bata yun. Ang akala niya ata si Roderick yung kausap niya eh. "Hon, sabihan mo nga yang anak mo na kahit minsan naman maging sweet siya sakin. Kahit man lang sana sabihin niya na mag-ingat ako papunta sa Resto o drive safely, wala! To be honest, hindi ko talaga alam kung kanino nagmana yun. Sayo lang malambing eh. Tsk!" Said that in her mind while staring at her phone screen.

As I placed my phone on my table, I immediately turned off my laptop at agad ko na din inayos ang mga papel na nakakalat sa lamesa ko. Before putting the books on the shelf, I drink the water left in my glass. After a minute, there's a notification popped up on my phone screen. As I checked who's the sender, I immediately raised my eyebow but still I can't help my not to smile.

From My Maddison 2.0:
Mom, drive safely, okay? Love you too.

As I read her message, I immediately shook my head pero nakangiti pa din ako. "Buti naman....Pero tignan mo 'tong anak mo, Edward. Hayst! Kahit kelan talaga".

I reach the Resto in an hour and as I enter, a waiter approached me. He ask my name at agad akong hinatid wherein my daughter's table. Mukhang hindi niya ako namalayang umupo sa harap niya so I utter her name. Nakatulala lang siya while crossing her arms so I placed my hand on the table and move closer.
