Previously, Donghyuck had been setting up his phone most of the day, texting Jaemin that he was sorry he could not come in today since it was Mark's birthday.
When he finished doing that, he got bored and went to find any one of the members to hang out with for the evening.
The first one he thought about was Renjun so he headed to the security room—with a limp—knocking on the door but there was no answer.
Donghyuck just decided to open the door since he knew Renjun never had a problem with him coming in to watch Mark on missions.
No one knew that but Renjun though.
So he was caught off guard when Jungwoo was there too, but Renjun gave him a comforting look since the older did not notice him yet.
He only noticed Donghyuck when he spoke up and he told the younger he could not be here.
However, Mark let him stay and speak his mind.
He ended up helping NCT acknowledge an ambush approach as well helping Mark read a coded piece of paper.
Now, Mark and the other members were on their way back to the base with the group of people they captured for interrogation in the dungeon later on.
Their mission was complete and Renjun was double checking their system to make sure no one hacked into it while Jungwoo kept an eye on the cameras.
"How were you able to read the paper?" Jungwoo asked with curiosity while Donghyuck shrugged.
"I don't know. Maybe it was because of the lighting?" Donghyuck mentioned as Jungwoo tsked.
"But it was only lit up with a blue lamp light," Jungwoo stated.
"Well i was kinda born with my eyes a little messed up and because of it, i can see certain things that many people can't as well as people can see lots of things that i can't make out to be," Donghyuck explained, remembering his eye doctor scolding him to wear his prescriptive glasses—which he still is not wearing but do not tell his eye doctor.
"That's pretty cool! It's like a superpower," Jungwoo cheered as Donghyuck let out a dry chuckle.
"No, it's just color amblyopia...It's a blessing and a curse," Donghyuck nonchalantly spoke, dismissing the conversation with his hands.
Renjun snickered.
"We could use you in the gang, you know? We need a member like you," Renjun suddenly said after a few minutes of going through his work.
Donghyuck bit his bottom lip.
"I-I don't know. I'm not so great like you guys," Dognhyuck honestly said. "I don't really have anything to offer."
"What are you talking about? You literally just helped us out a few moments ago," Jungwoo butted in as Donghyuck shook his head.
"That was just luck," Donghyuck shrugged. "And the fact that the lightening was illuminated."
Renjun glued his hands to his hips before speaking, "That wasn't luck. That was intuition and not many people have a strong sense in that."
"I can't fight. I can't hack. I can't use weapons. I'm a lost cause, really," Donghyuck stated as a matter of factly. "All I know is how to run my grandparents pub."
"But we can teach you all those things if you wanted to! You don't have to know how to do them all...you could maybe even just stay with me here and keep an eye on the cameras to alert the members on their missions of possible intruders and whatnot," Renjun reasoned but Donghyuck was still unsure.
