Night time was not as usual.

A sound came from the bushes.

I sat up straight at once, my bow and arrow at the ready and my feet ready to jump from the tree I had been sitting on.

Clip, clop, clip, clop.

I let go of the arrow.

"Duck!" a familiar voice came.

The arrow missed it's mark by a centimeter, snipping away a small part of Grover's hair. I could hear him complaining.

I got down from the tree, squinting to see through the darkness.

"Arms out," Tess ordered.

I could hear them unsheathing their swords and getting ready.

I walked closer to them, arrow nocked into the bow.

Tess twirled his sword at once, attacking me. I caught his wrist, ducking down, and held him tight.

"Ari-?" Tess whispered at once.

"Shh," I whispered angrily. "Followed."

"What happened?" Grover asked. Apparently he hadn't yet realized that I was there.

"No," I whispered softly to Tess.

"N-Nothing," Tess said at once to the others. "Wrong call."

"We're close to the camp?" a voice came. It was rough, a boy's voice.

"Yeah, reckon so," Tess replied. "We need to keep moving."

"Follow me," I said to Tess.

He nodded sharply, and we set off.

Once in a while, I'd hear the unmistakable sound of a few heavy pairs of feet crunching against the ground behind us.

"Thalia," Tess said. "I want you to stay close to Grover."

"Okay," Thalia replied. It sounded like she was younger than me, but still her voice was hard as steel.

"Luke, keep an eye on Annabeth."

"Right," it was the same rough voice of the boy.

"What about me?" another voice came. I stopped in my tracks.

"I want you to take care of the.... weapons, Annabeth," Tess replied.

"Is that a kid?" I whispered, turning to Tess.

"No time, I'll explain later," Tess whispered back urgently.

I nodded. We set off again, clearing our way through the long grass on Half Blood Hill. There was no moon to light up the sky, and the stars were gone under the dark clouds.

The arch was just a few hundred yards away. I couldn't help but smile. Somehow, we'd end this quest without a war.

At that very moment, a roar sounded.

I really shouldn't have turned around, because behind us was a huge.. and by huge, I mean Polyphemus huge, Cyclopes. He wore nothing but a loincloth and lots of grease. With him were two of his best mates, also Cyclopes. Each of their eyes were glowing in the darkness.

"Food!" the one in the middle said, or rather, should I say, roared.

"On second thoughts," I said, "enough sneak walk. Run!"

"Run!" Tess ordered at once, and the others didn't hesitate to obey.

The two of us were left, standing at the doorways to Camp Half Blood.
