TW: fatal birth, mild language, slight argument, fluff.

The day had finally come, your due date. The past two days had been the worst out of the whole pregnancy...you'd been at your parents for the past three days with mason in London, the three days had consisted of Braxton-hicks, headaches, temperatures, and awful sleep. Your mom and dad was sure it was the baby getting ready to come out, Tom was on standby ready to come to the hospital at any moment...mason was amazing as always helping you rest and sleep, he was your only source of comfort right now. You just wanted him, and no the two of you wasn't official you was taking things slow because of Tom and the baby. You'd admitted your feelings for each other, but you explained you couldn't risk anymore stress in the pregnancy.

He'd been so gentle and understanding, he'd lay awake with you last night all night rubbing your back while you threw up, he held your belly which was the only time you could sleep because the baby would calm down...you was worried as silly as it was the baby would be more connected to mason as the baby would sense your comfort towards him. Masons friends was also on stand by incase you two needed anything, he'd got an amazing friendship group of caring people, you got along with everyone. Including his family that you'd been excepted into straight away: everyone wanted you and mason to get together, your dad told you if Tom was funny with you you and mason would get custody over the baby. But you couldn't take time change of being a dad away now.

Tom had agreed to let mason be there for you when the birth came along, but he'd agreed with mason that mason doesn't hold the baby when it's born. Currently you was convinced it was a boy because of how your belly was sat, mason thought it would be a girl. And so was yours and masons family...not to mention toms new girlfriend who'd recently joined the scene, she'd never seemed to happy that you was having toms baby. She in fact didn't want kids, you know as happy for Tom though she seemed nice...sometimes. It was late on Sunday night, yours and masons family had been for a Sunday meal together that you and mason ended up leaving early in an ambulance...your waters had broke. And the news the paramedics and midwife gave you was not what you wanted to be hearing...

The baby had turned the wrong way in your belly's and it's airways was being cut off, it was crucial for you and the baby that the baby got c-sectioned straight away. You didn't have much time to speak to your family apart from your mom and dad, mason was in a worse state that anyone...his best friend Declan and his girlfriend who you'd recently become good friends with Lauren had come to meet mason at the hospital. Mason sat holding your hand more tight than usual, you'd never seen him cry before but you did today. He'd been pacing up and down the room you was in awaiting anymore news, he tried to refrain from crying when you was out to sleep but he couldn't do it. He was supposed to tell you the words he'd been trying get out for months now...he loved you...if anything happened now without him telling you that he'd never be able to live with himself again.

"We're taking her down to theatre now." Your midwife stood and told Tom, mason Lauren and Declan.

"When will she be out?" Lauren asked nervously.

"We're not sure yet." She sighed. "Any news and we'll let you know straight away...for now she's in the best place possible,"

"Thank you." Tom nodded at her before placing his head in his hands again.

Mason sat with tears staining his cheeks, he'd never felt this way before. So scared of what the outcome for you could be...he'd never loved someone or met someone like you before: you'd turned into masons whole entire world. That's why yours and his family loved you both together so much, the both of you sparkled together...mason made you smile wider than anyone had ever saw, and made you belly laugh like a child. He was your happiness and you was his, he'd never wanted to spend forever with someone before, but he was certain you was his forever. He loved you so much, to the pony he'd do anything...he say feeling guilt flossing him that this might go wrong, you'd promised yourself you'd fight until the end for your baby...and for mason.

The silence was enough to push mason over the edge, the girl he loved was sat in the room all of the machines were alarming out in...Lauren sat holding Declan's arms tightly clinging onto him nervously. Tom sat with his head in his hands his leg shacking anxiously...masons tears ran down his cheeks helplessly. He felt so sick. The nurses came rushing in and out of the room with equipment as the machines alarmed out vigorously, mason stood up abruptly with Tom as Lauren's fave dropped when your midwife rushed out to them. Her eyes began to water slightly masons heart dropped as he fell the floor, he screamed and wailed out...people in the ward looked so sympathetic for him. He cried and cried out as Lauren and dec rushed to his side, Tom sat down crying breathlessly...not knowing if it was his baby or the mother of his baby.

"I'm so sorry." The wid wife's voice cracked as she chewed her lip as tears ran down her cheeks.

"NO!" Mason cried out breathlessly.

"We did everything we could to save them both." She added softly. "Sir you have a baby girl." She said to mason.

Mason just sat with his knees tucked up into his head not noticing she was talking to him, he cried and wailed out over and over again. No matter Declan's efforts to calm him, although him and Lauren was crying. Masons wails where heart braking, Tom realised that mason and you was clearly in love. Tom stood up trying to stop himself from screaming, he felt heart broke.

"Sir would you like to come into our family room." The midwife kneeled down in front of mason as dec helped him up of the floor.

She lead them into the family room mason curled up in his own body in the chair, he felt so hurt and numb. Tom sat silent with tears running down his cheeks, also heartbroken...Declan and Lauren sat holding mason as the midwife spoke when they'd calmed down slightly.

"During the procedure ami was loosing a lot of blood that is fatal to her and the baby, ami was being starved of oxygen so we attached her onto oxygen at levels far from six...the surgeon managed to save ami once as her body went into shock...he then had the choice to save ami or the baby, and ami had said she wanted the baby to be priority. The surgeon Neil saved the baby girl ami birthed, but unfortunately ami's body is in shock and currently completely shut down and paralysed...the surgeons are working extremely hard to give ami a fighting chance."

"Is she going to be okay?" Mason said threw cries.

"At the minute we can't say." She sighed sadly. "All I can say is you can come and see ami and her baby girl but ami is unresponsive and she's not in the best place right now...but baby girl is doing amazing...she will have to be skin to skin with someone soon." The midwife explained.

"Doesn't baby have to be with mom." Lauren asked.

"It's crucial we get ami responsive soon for the baby's and her own sake, yes." She said.

"Can we see her now." Mason breathlessly chocked out on tears.

"Follow me." She nodded.
