Kennedy Aross
+Later on that day

Kennedy woke up with a pounding headache. She opened her eyes and adjusted to the light.

She seen her parents in the room and Lynn. They were all asleep. She didn't see Dominic.

She sat up and groaned lowly. She looked around for her son. She reached for her phone so she could call Dominic as the door opened.

She seen Dominic. He looked relieved. Everyone woke up hearing the door shut. He walked over and spoke.

"How you feel baby?" He spoke lowly before leaning down to kiss her cheek. "fine." Her voice was groggy. "where's Symere?" She questioned.

"In the NICU. We won't be able to see him again until the next hour. He's only 3 pounds." He explained.

She wanted to cry. "I wanna see him." Her voice shook. "I know...I know." He kissed her forehead. "Let me get a nurse." He spoke.

She sighed watching him walk away. "Kennedy....your up." Rebecca smiled.

"How you feel dear?" Lynn smiled. "I feel fine." She put on a smile. Soon the door opened Revealing a nurse and Dominic.

"Hi Ms. Aross. Nice to finally see you up. I'm just gonna check a few things and make sure everythings working correctly." She walked over.

She examined the screen of the machine before asking a few questions.

"Can I see the baby?" She asked. The nurse sighed. "we aren't supposed to allow you to see him this frequently but because you weren't able to see him before, we'll make an exception." She smiled.

"Thank you."

"Of course. And I'll also be back with the birth certificate. Dad signed but we're just missing your signature." She explained.

Kennedy nodded. She walked off and Kennedy held Dominic's hand.

"Y'all hungry? I could go get some food." Dominic offered. "I am. I could eat anything right now." Rebecca spoke.

"Yeah nigga. Go get sum to eat." Thomas spoke and Rebecca mugged him. "Ian getting you nun , man. Rebecca and mama what would y'all like?" He asked.

"Where you going?" Lynn asked. He shrugged. "um it don't matter." He explained.

"I'll take anything."

"Me too."

"Alright, imma go to Wingstop. What you want Kennedy?" He looked at her. She shook her head. "I'm not hungry."

"You ain't ate inna minute, you gotta eat." He explained. She shook her head. He sighed before kissing her forehead briefly.

"Don't kiss my daughter nigga."

"You lucky that's all I did." Dominic stood up as the door opened. The nurse pushed in a baby on a cart.

Kennedy smiled as he got closer. She pushed him to the side of the bed.

"Okay so unfortunately you can't hold him because he's very fragile now and his immune system isn't the strongest. You can hold his hand and touch him but he very gentle because his skin isn't quite formed all the way." She explained.

Kennedy nodded as she and Dominic looked down at Symere. So many tubes were attached and he was so small.

Her heart broke. She wanted to cry. She held her finger out and his small hand grasped it.

He was a bit pink and she could almost see right through his skin. She could see a few blood vessels and it scared her.

Her eyes grew glossy and she sighed.

••••••••••••

Now everyone was gone. It was only Dominic and Kennedy. He laid in bed with her. Her head rested on his chest as he spoke to her.

"He's just so small and I feel horrible because I know it's my fault. I was drinking a lot at the beginning of my pregnancy but only cause I didn't know. I would never purposely hurt him. I love him." She teared up.

"Stop blaming yaself. It's not ya fault. Its nobodys fault. Either way , my son gon be straight. It don't matter. In a few weeks , we gon leave home with our son. It's okay Kennedy." He kissed her cheek.

She sniffled as she held him tighter. "I love you." She spoke. "I love you too baby." He wrapped his arm around her.
