Our cocktails arrived. Min Su's rosy drink with a slice of lime was placed on a small, square napkin. It was Gin mixed with tonic and some raspberries floating on top of the bubbles. She smiled appreciatively at the carved-out glass, then looked at mine and Lee's. Our signature drink was served in a Martini glass. The rectangular-shaped glass was filled to the brim. The cocktail was made with London dry gin, a sophisticated blend of fine botanicals and exotic teas—I am just repeating the man, I don't give a flying fuck what was in it, only that it contains alcohol—mixed with some strong, herb-flavored wine, sherry wine, citrus oils, and garnished with olives. I picked an olive out of the drink and suckled on it before popping it into my mouth. This tastes amazing.
Lee eyed me, while I fished for the next olive, and I flashed him a smile before I vacuumed it against my puckered lips, then licked it with a tease glimmering in my eyes. Fully fixated on me, I swirled the tip of my tongue around the olive and my fingertips, tasting the different flavors before I sucked it into my mouth. My pointer finger disappeared passed the knuckle right after, then I bit on it when I shared Lee a wolfish grin, pleased he couldn't take his eyes off my lips.
The heat that simmered beneath my skin didn't last very long, though, when I noticed through the corner of my eye that Min Su looked at me too. I inhaled the olive, almost choking to death, then spit it out in the napkin I grabbed just in time.
Min Su raised her glass, her crinkling eyes hidden behind it, and said with a chuckle in her voice, "Let's cheer on the charity, that it will be a success."
Embarrassment struck me as I raised my drink, clinking it against hers. When I went for Lee's, I found his eyes holding a playful glint but he didn't say anything and tipped his glass against mine when I was still frozen mid-air.
This was not a great start.
Our short silence was filled with sounds of eating, sipping our drinks, a glass hitting a plate, and cutting meat, mingled with the soft music backdrop coming from a live band that kept the roaring 20s alive.
Min Su scraped her throat, grasping my attention, and I looked up at her. I didn't like the expression she gave me right now. "I put out the auction list this morning." Her smile grew. "And there is already a lot of commotion about auction number 11."
"Eleven?" My eyebrows pulled together. Did I miss something?
"Yes, you."
Before I could wrap my head around what Min Su just said, Lee already barked out a laugh, almost spitting his drink out but quickly covered his mouth with the back of his hand. I looked from Min Su to Lee with a blank expression, while his smiling eyes peeked above his hand.
"That's still a thing?" I fucking forgot. I was so emersed in the contract that I have with Lee, that I never thought about that stupid auction, and how Lee threw me under the bus when he opted for the idea. "I never agreed to that.." I grumbled, far from pleased.
