The Sunset Between Us

Chapter 21

Binuksan niya ang pintuan ng sasakyan at lumabas naman ako dala dala ang ibinigay niya saking bulaklak, "Thank you for tonight, I enjoyed it."

"Your welcome, sige na pasok ka na sa loob." She replied.

I gave her a warm smile and got my way towards the foyer. Malapit na ako sa entrance nang bigla akong bumalik kay Gia at binigyan siya ng mahigpit na yakap.

Magsasalita na sana siya ngunit hindi niya na ito natapos dahil tinalikuran ko na siya, bago ako umalis ay nakita ko siyang nakangiti na para bang bata na nanalo sa arcade.

Pagpasok ko sa condo ay dumiretso na ako para magshower kahit pagod na ako I won't let my outside clothes touch my bedsheets, so not very hygienic no! Tonight was exhausting, wala akong pahinga simula kaninang umaga at gusto ko nalang ipikit ang mga mata ko.

After I showered I let my body fall on my bed and I still manage to send a message to Gia kung nakauwi na ba siya.

Today at 11:16PM

fae_salvacion: Heyyy nakauwi ka na ba?

Sineen niya agad ang message ko assuming na nakauwi na siya.

itsgiacatamores: Yeah, ngayon lang

fae_salvacion: Oh alright I'll head to sleep na. Thank you ulit for tonight :)

Hindi ko na hinintay kung anong sasabihin niya at natulog na ako dahil pinagod niya talaga ako ngayong gabi. Buti nalang at walang pasok bukas, aabsent talaga ako kung meron.

Kinabukasan ay busy ako para gumawa ng defense namin at iba pang schoolworks ko to avoid cramming, early in the morning laptop na ang bungad ko. Onti nalang maduduling na ako sa mga numbers and letters dito.

I stretched my arms and ruffled my hair, tapos na magtanghalian ang iba tapos ako hindi pa nga nakakakain ng pangumaga, tamang kape lang.

As I continue typing on my laptop and taking notes I heard a knock coming from the door, wala namang sinabi si Cleo o Irish na pupunta sila dito? I lift the bed table and peek through the peephole to see who's outside.

After I saw who the person was, my mind completely went empty. I stood for a breef moment before opening the door and making a deep breath.

"Serenityyy! Namiss kita!" Daphne hugged me not so long enough before breaking the hug holding a paper bag.

I don't know what to react, I mean I'm shock but this is unexpected?

"U-uhm come inside." I opened the door widely for her to get inside.

She sat on the couch placing the paper bag on the kitchen table.

"Alam mo namang hindi kita matitiis ng sobrang tagal, I can't handle us not talking for long! I wanna say sorry for what I said and did to you the last time we talked, I know that it was so stupid and immatured of me to say those things. I admit that I acted insensitive sa sinabi ko without realizing it." As she made a sad face.

To be honest hindi ko rin to matitiis eh, these things are normal for a friendship.

I gave her a hug before speaking, "Namiss din kita Daphne, alam mo ba? Ako yung bumili ng perfume na binigay sayo ni Gia, para sayo talaga yon. It was somehow my way of apologizing to you pero nahihiya ako eh."

"Ikaw?! Bakit mo naman ginawa yon?!" Hinampas niya ako, "Grabe kawawa naman pala si Gia, nasabihan ko pa ng kung ano ano."

I giggled from what she said, I couldn't believe this, ayos na ulit kami—everything is finally doing good to me.

"So anong update sa life mo noong hindi tayo nagpapansinan?" She fixed her sitting position and seem so excited for me to tell.

"Actually kagabi Gia took me out for dinner."

"Ah." That's the only thing that escaped from her mouth.

"Why? You know I've been meaning to question you about this, why? Do you like Gia? Please tell me." I eagerly asked her.

She slightly chuckled, "I don't like her, I like you."

I felt a sting in my heart, na para bang may naglagay ng karayom.

“But you don't have to be worried or uncomfy to me now that you know because I totally understand that you like Gia, alam ko naman na gusto mo siya that's why I started avoiding you. Kung tatanungin mo ko ngayon kung masakit ba, of course it is pero I'll get over it soon. No harsh feelings here basta lagi mong tatandaan na andito lang ako. I'll be right here behind your back. You got me, always.”

I felt relieve at her words knowing that even if I couldn't reciprocate her feelings she's still here for me, although it's sad but ano pa bang magagawa ko?

She moved closer and gave me a hug for reassurance, “It's totally okay Serenity, don't blame yourself for it ha? Pag sinaktan ka ni Gia tawagan mo lang ako! Lagot sakin yan.” I broke the hug and we both laugh at her statement.

“Hindi mo kasalanan na hindi mo ko mahal.”

“Oh siya mauuna na ako may pupuntahan pa kasi kami ng pinsan ko, dinalaw lang kita dito. Yung paper bag ha nasa kitchen, puro foods laman niyan kasi alam kong patay gutom ka.” I gave her a glare before walking towards the door to open it.

“Sige naaa! Baka hinihintay ka na ng pinsan mo, shoo!” I playfully said, I gave her a wave and she replied with a smile before going inside the elevator.
