My Brother My Mate?

I don't know what to do, my brother is my mate, his eyes were on fire? The only thing I could think of is calling Nicki and Joyce. I grab my phone and head over to Nicki's house, I text Joyce 'Emergency come to Nicki's house now!' I knock on Nicki's door. "Oh my gosh hey Ariel! Did you find your mate?!" Nicki squeals.

"Yeah..." I say frowning.

"Who is it?" She asks excited.

"I'll tell you when Joyce gets here, let's just go to your room." I say walking in.

"Hey Nicki, who's at the door?!" I hear someone yell. I could see Nicki's brother walking around the corner, he was staring at the folder in his hands.

"It's Ariel, we'll be upstairs if you need us." She says running up the stairs. I used to have a crush on Drake, but now it just doesn't feel right. "Hey Drake, how is school?" I ask following Nicki.

"It's school... how do you think it's going?" He said walking away. I smile, and head up the stairs. "Ok so what's wrong?" Nicki asked sitting in her beanbag chair. I sigh and sit on her bed. We sat in comfortable silence for about five minutes before I heard the doorbell ring.

I thought it was Joyce but no one came upstairs. Huh, I heard something drop. "What was that?" I ask. I jumped at the sudden noise. Nicki gets up and runs downstairs, I follow after her. I turn the corner to see Drake staring at Joyce.

"Ugh I'm done with mates!" I say stomping. "Hug, kiss, whatever! Joyce I need to tell you guys something!" I say grabbing Joyce's arm. I could hear Drake growl at my movement. "Oh shut up..." I growl back. "She's my mate..." he growls lowly.

"Just be lucky it's not your sister..." I growl.

"What?" He looks at me. I roll my eyes and walk back up the stairs, fall face first back onto the bed.

I could see Joyce and Nicki at the corner of my eye. "What's wrong?" She said panicked.

"Yeah who's your mate?" Nicki asked. "Is it Brice?" Now that I think about it I haven't seen him since we broke up. "No," I say sighing.

"Who is it?" Joyce asked.

"It's Xavier."

"Huh? Who's Xavier?" Nicki asked.

"My brother?!" I say.

"What? You don't mean a different Xavier?" Joyce asked staring at me.

"No, my adopted brother is my mate." I say, I could hear Carly purr at the back of my mind.

"Wow...." I hear them say.

"Guys help me what do I do?!" I whine. "How can I treat my brother like a mate?! That would be disgusting!" I say face palming.

"Haha that would be funny." Nicki says laughing.

"This isn't funny!" I whine.

"I know," Joyce says smacking Nicki's shoulder. "Air just take it nice and slow, I know it's weird but your mate pull will help."

"You can't fight him or the mate pull" Nicki says.

"I know, and I can't reject him... He's my brother..."

We sit there in silence, Joyce gets up a sighs. "I have to go sorry," she says smiling sadly.

"Where are you going?" I ask eyeing her.

"This mate pull is killing me, and he won't stop bothering me through the mind link..." she says leaving.

"Honestly I would think Xavier would be looking for you like crazy." Nicki said shrugging. Wait, I have my mind link up.. shit. "Uh I have my link up, should I take it down?" I say slowly.

"Oh shit..." she says face palming. "Uh no don't.. Just say you didn't know." I feel guilty so I check for a second to see if he is ok. I couldn't hear him, but I could feel he is out if breath. "Nicki what do I do?" I asked panicked.

"Just go see him, it won't cause any harm." She didn't have to say it twice, I said bye to Nicki and ran down the stairs. I was going to say bye to Drake but they were kissing.... so I decided not to. I shift and run into the forest, it was about five miles before I spotted Xavier running in circles. I sat down and I could see pass a tree and five minutes later he would come back.

'Xavier?' I ask through the mind link, he freezes.

'Ariel! Where are you?' He asks. I yip and he growls, he turns in his fighting stance. I could see his whole body relax, he nuzzles my head. I could hear him sigh, Carly started to purr. 'I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you,' I hear him say.

'Me scared ha!' I say pulling my head away.

'Uh huh,' he said sarcastically. I roll my eyes and run back to the house. I decided I wanted to have fun, so I jumped through my bedroom window. Why not? I shift and land on my bed. I could hear Xavier not to far behind me. He jumps through my window landing on my bed. He shifts and falls face first in my pillows. I could hear him say something but it was muffled by the pillows. Lucky he's my brother, I feel like I know him to well.

"I'm sorry, it's just...." I say sighing.

"What happened?" I could barely hear him.

"Well for some reason your eyes caught on fire, I guess? And it put Carly in a trance?" I say laying on his back.

"Fire?" He asked flipping himself around.

"Yeah... but I don't understand..." I say listening to his heartbeat.

"Fire.... a ring of fire, the light of the fire is true..." He says.

"No no stop it..." I say plugging my ears. When he said that my head felt like it was on fire... Carly fully surfaced, she repeated the same thing in her head. "Stop!" I growl. Carly stops but Xavier is staring into space. "Xavier?" I ask.

"The light of the fire is true, with the snap of your fingers it will be true to you..." he growls. That's it! I grab my water bottle and splash it all over him. The burning in my head has dimmed. He stares at me for a second.

"Hey!" He growls jumping off the bed.

"Stop hurting my head!" I whine, but I notice that his clothes and hair is dry. "Wait your dry?" He looks at his clothes.

"Huh..." he says running his hand through his hair. I could feel my stomach rumble. "I'm hungry." I say.

"Apparently.. you wanna make pancakes?" I could see him smile. I remember the last day we made pancakes, my 15th birthday. We weren't allowed to ever make them again. I smile.

"Sure."
