Adalynn pov
If some asked me about three things I hate,I would say
Myself
Marriage shit
Entertaining rich oldiesLiving my whole life as my mom's precious daughter,I was surrounded by influential people.
From business traders to snobby wrinkly ladies who think everyone is below them.I've seen them all and till now to survive them is a big task.
"Smile and nod"my mother's words echoes in my mind and how she used to tug my hair behind neatly teaching me the etiquettes.
How to talk to them and how to not.
Their arrogance used to piss me off. Why they act like they are god or something?
Why those side eyes and whispers?
How dare they call themselves noble when their habits are worse than normal people?
These questions led me to say many things I should have not and my mom suffered a lot with the business.
'smile and nod' I obeyed like it's my responsibility.
When they look at me, I could see in their eyes that nothing but Carolina Rose's daughter,a precious heir,a delicate doll,a business deal.
Having my own identity was a dream.
Having my own dreams was a dream.I was never courageous.I pretended to be.
Remembering that one day when I told my mom about my dream,I felt myself getting emotional.
I never had a dream of my own and when I decided to become an ice skating ballerina, I felt free.
The liberation, the dream was just before my eyes, brightly falling on me.It felt as if the whole universe was with me. I'm getting there, I'm getting there.
But I wanted to forget I was Carolina's Daughter, the sole heir of the Rose industry.
It was my roots. No matter how much I wanted to bloom brightly in the sky and I was deeply rooted in the ground.
I got bounded with a marriage that I never wanted.
Forget it,what I want will never matter.
Even after our marriage is fake and we will go back separately, I will still be Carolina Rose's daughter.
My roots are still in the ground. I could achieve my dreams but I can't forget who I am.
The realisation was hitting me like bricks on my back.
My eyes shed tears uncontrollably and I don't want to cry,My eyes are still wide open in acknowledgement.
I couldn't feel anything.
"Smile and nod"my mother's words echo in my mind and how she used to tug my hair behind neatly teaching me the etiquettes.
Freedom is a luxury.
...........
Maids were putting my hair in a slick back bun, untangling my hair a thousand times.
I wore the sapphire earrings and applied a little blush on my cheeks.
My body felt dizzy with the amount I had cried in the morning.
My head hurts but more concerning things were I looked lifeless.
Like a beautiful dainty princess but no life in her eyes.
